*** Please schedule on the hour. Thank you! *** My name is Joy and I am a therapist in GA. It's always been my desire to work as a therapist and I am truly grateful to do the work that I do. My approach is collaborative and supportive. In a world full of challenges, my aim is to foster a therapeutic environment in which those I work with feel supported.
In our first session, we'll take a few minutes to answer any questions you might have about the therapeutic process as well as the nuts & bolts of working together. This would be followed by me learning more about your current challenges & what your hopes are for our work together.
Therapeutic modalities that I bring to each session vary depending on the client's needs, preferences, and presenting issue, but typically include elements of Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) and Insight-oriented therapy. With any approach, I aim to support clients in nurturing a kinder relationship with themselves as well as creating a greater sense of contentment. I am also trained in hypnotherapy which can be helpful with many issues.
My work focuses primarily on working with women challenged with issues related to trauma, anxiety, depression, shame, self-criticism/perfectionism, and those who may identify as highly sensitive or find themselves feeling frequently overwhelmed.
I enjoy working with clients seeking to make connections between current challenges and past experiences as well as those who wish to gain further clarity and insight into their challenges as a catalyst for change.
