About me

Welcome! I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor who believes that everyone deserves a safe space to be heard, understood, and supported. Through my private practice, JMN Oasis Counseling, LLC, I provide compassionate, nonjudgmental therapy for adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, stress, relationship concerns, life transitions, and other challenges. JMN Oasis Counseling, LLC. has a deeply personal meaning to me. The letters JMN represents three deceased loved ones who were near and dear to my heart—my brother, father, and mother. Their lives and the impact they had on me continue to remind me of the importance of showing up for others, especially during difficult seasons of life. My approach is warm, genuine, and collaborative. I believe therapy is not about telling you what to do; it is about helping you better understand yourself, identify what is holding you back, develop healthier coping strategies, and discover the strength you already possess.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Your first therapy session is an opportunity to slow down, breathe, and begin telling your story in a safe and supportive environment. We will talk about what brought you to therapy, what you would like to change, and what you hope to gain from our work together. You do not have to have the perfect words or know exactly where to begin—I will help guide the conversation. I want you to leave your first session feeling heard, validated, respected, and hopeful. My goal is for you to feel that you have found a space where you can be yourself without judgment and where your concerns are taken seriously. Every person is different, so I tailor my approach to the individual. Some clients need space to process and be heard, while others benefit from structure, practical tools, gentle challenges, or help identifying patterns that may be keeping them stuck. I meet you where you are and adjust our work based on your needs, goals, personality, and readiness for change.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

The strengths I bring to each session include active listening, empathy, compassion, and validation. I want my clients to feel that they can be honest about what they are experiencing without fear of being judged. My approach is collaborative and individualized. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, person-centered therapy, supportive therapy, and motivational approaches to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and develop practical tools for managing life's challenges. I believe I can be all three when needed: I can sit quietly and hold space when you need to be heard; I can walk alongside you when you need support; and I can gently challenge you when you are ready to look at things differently. My goal is not simply to help you get through a difficult moment, but to help you develop insight, confidence, coping skills, healthier relationships, and a stronger sense of self.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is someone who is seeking help for their mental health concerns, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, or relationship issues. They are motivated to work on their issues and are open to exploring new coping strategies and treatment options. Their needs revolve around feeling supported, validated, and understood in a nonjudgmental and safe environment. They are looking for guidance and direction to navigate through their struggles and make positive changes in their life. Their goals may include improving their self-esteem, developing healthier coping mechanisms, and creating more fulfilling relationships.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. Together, we identify thought patterns that may be contributing to anxiety, depression, stress, or other challenges. I help clients learn practical ways to challenge unhelpful thoughts, manage difficult emotions, and make healthier choices. Sessions are collaborative and focused on skills that clients can use both in and outside of therapy.
