New to Grow
I am an empathatic and passionate Licensed Professional Counselor with 20 years of experience. My goals are to help clients feel comfortable, heard, and we can work together to realize and work towards their goals. I know clients can be or learn to be resilient and build on what is already working in their lives by creating practical solutions to their struggles. I have spent the past 20 years working in a large military population, and I live and work in a highly concentrated Hispanic Community. I spent several years as a foster parent and am also an adoptive parent. I know we can work together to help you build on strengths, realize areas of struggles, and help be able to have tools to overcome live's challenges.
Our first session together will be an opportunity for us to build rapport, review informed consent, and disucss what brought you to therapy. It will be the first opportunity where I will be able to hear you, understand your perspective, and help you to feel comfortable. It will be an opportunity for us to gather history, help you to be heard, and help to establish what will be your goals for therapy.
I believe what stands out the most with me as a Licensed Professional Counselor is how I have incredible warmth and help clients to feel heard and comfortable sharing their story. I create an opportunity for clients to feel connected and comfortable with excellent listening skills .I also believe my methods help clients to see change more quickly as we build on their thought patterns, strengths, and goals.
Since I have spent 20 years working with children and adolescents, I definitely feel that I have a great experiences and skills with them. Some of Clients concerns would include emotional regulation, coping with and handling life's stressors, anxiety, and impusive and oppositional behaviors. I would like a client who wants to be heard, understood, and is ready to make progress towards improving their life adn reaching their goals.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is a great mode for therapy because it is evidence based, structured, and helps clients identify negative thought patterns that causes emotional distress. These thought patterns are identified and linked with behaviors so when you work on changing thougths then you can change behaviors and patterns of behaviors.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
Solution focused therapy is a strengths based approach focused on achieving quick and tangible results by building on client resources and strengths.
