John Rubin
I am a seasoned Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have specialized in addiction and recovery services, working as a Director of various Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. In addition I have 15 years experience working as a Private Practitioner. I have a varied practice, serving individuals, couples and families that struggle with addiction concerns as well as anxiety/depression.
First session
Initially our goal is to get comfortable with one another. This can happen quickly or take some time to foster a trusting relationship.
Strengths
I am a self-aware practitioner. I attempt to create a safe open relationship. I am secure in the knowledge that I am perceived as non-judgmental with a good sense of humor and the ability to connect with a variety of personalities.
Ideal clients
I am well-versed in various addiction related treatment modalities. I have learned early on that if "all you have is a hammer everyone looks like a nail". This is to say that I will meet clients where they are and towards whatever their goal might be. If it is Harm Reduction or towards total abstinence. I have come to respect each individuals personal goals. I am a non-judgmental practitioner. Treatment, like life itself is a process of self-discovery.
Treatment methods
Eclectic
I will meet clients "where they are". If someone is ready and able to make changes in their life I will help guide them on their jouney.
