About me

(IMPORTANT: LIMITED AVAILABILITY IN EARLY MORNING AND AFTER 9PM during week of 8/11/2025, 8/25/2025, and 9/15/2025) My name is Jay Ruan, a licensed clinical social worker in State of California. Beyond my education, trainings, and working experiences, I am also have lived experience of struggling with mental health. This give me not only the knowledges, but also empathy and different perspective that are support and guide you in your journey toward restoring your true potential and overall wellness. I seek not to tell you where to go, but walk with you on your side. I believe that "unable to change" is trauma and live through experience that are not yet given the needed care and untangling. My approach is using the method that best address your need and situation. I often help client restore and build needed support in their life during time of change, interpersonal conflict, and grief & lost. After I work on addressing urgent issues, I want to help you build insight and deal with root of the issue that aim to produce long lasting recovery long after treatment ended. I am not here to solve your problem, but to guide and empower you to conquered them. (Late night appointment available and preferred)

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During first session, I will spent time help us get to know each other. You need to know who you are working with and see potentially you can feel comfortable working with me. I always tell my client to ask any questions and concerns you might have. I also want to get to know you and what you want to achieve together, so we can ensure good fit or if better match is warrant.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I am introspective and focus not only the surface, but having patient and ability to identify patterns and nuances in behavior and thoughts. I seek to look at process rather than what is being done. I have capacity to provide evening and late evening appointments as well.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I believe genuine care and honoring one as he/she is are universal foundation in recovery. I have a lot experience working with people with self-esteem issue and trauma. People who are introspective and open to solving root cause beyond current issues are good fit with me. I believe it takes both of us engaging and doing our part for the best result. Client that are engaged and actively participate would benefit greatly. This is not to say you able to solve your own problem, rather is a collaborative and interactive process. I also know important of Christian faith and role it can have on journey to recovery if you want to intergrade faith in the treatment. (Client who wants to have session during evening and late evening will be accepted, please see my calendar for availability.)
