I specialize in two things most therapists don't: sleep and health. Specifically, I help individuals who can't sleep, who are managing a chronic illness or medical diagnosis, or who've been trying to make lasting health behavior changes and keep hitting a wall. I hold dual board certifications in Clinical Health Psychology (ABPP) and Behavioral Sleep Medicine (DBSM), the latter being one of the most specialized credentials a psychologist can earn, and one that very few providers in Colorado have. Before going into private practice, I spent over a decade as an active duty psychologist in the U.S. Air Force, working with service members, veterans, and their families through some genuinely hard things. That experience shaped how I approach care: I believe in being collaborative, practical, and honest about what the research actually supports, and I don't believe in wasting your time.
The first session is a thorough conversation about what's actually going on: what's driving the problem, how long it's been happening, what you've already tried, and what your life looks like around it. I'll ask about your sleep, your health, your stress, your relationships, and your daily rhythms. This isn’t because I'm being nosy, but because all of those things interact, and I need to understand the full picture to give you a plan that actually fits your life. By the time we wrap up, we will have an initial understanding of what is keeping the problem in place and what we can do about it together. Most clients leave the first session feeling relieved. This isn’t necessarily because things are fixed; rather, there's finally a map. Ready to get started? Book directly through Headway; I have telehealth availability across Colorado.
My approach is structured and collaborative. We work together with a clear direction, and you'll always know what we're doing and why. I draw primarily on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), including specialized CBT for insomnia, nightmares, chronic pain, and other sleep and health concerns. Additionally, I draw heavily from Motivational Interviewing and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). These are research-backed tools that translate directly into changes you can make in your daily life.
I see adults and seniors via telehealth across Colorado. My top focus areas are insomnia and other sleep-related difficulties (using gold-standard, evidence-based treatments like CBT-I) as well as adjusting to chronic medical conditions (like chronic pain, diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular concerns). I also have specialized training in managing occupational stress for military personnel, first responders, healthcare workers, and other high-performance professionals.
As a long-time specialist with over a decade of expertise, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia to help you reset your natural sleep drive and quiet nighttime racing thoughts, helping you achieve deep, reliable sleep without depending on medication. I also have expertise in behavioral interventions for managing other sleep-related concerns, like chronic nightmares, sleep apnea, shift-work sleep disorder, hypersomnia, and parasomnias.
Through Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, I help you make space for the emotional and physical discomfort of chronic sleep and health issues so you can stop fighting your body and focus on living a full, meaningful life.
I use a Motivational Interviewing style to partner with you in resolving mixed feelings about health habits like exercise, diet, or medication schedules, tapping into your personal values and to build lasting motivation.
Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I help you identify and shift the unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that keep you feeling stuck, making daily health management feel less overwhelming.
