About me

I am a compassionate and down-to-earth therapist who believes that therapy should be a place where you feel comfortable, understood and able to be yourself. I have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families, and I strive to create a supportive environment where even difficult topics feel easier to talk about. I also believe there is room for appropriate humor, during therapy, sometimes being able to smile or laugh together can make the hard work feel a little less overwhelming. What you see in session, the laid back, goofy but can be blunt person is who you'd meet on the street if you saw me in public. Serious when serious is needed.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first session, my priority is helping you feel comfortable and giving us an opportunity to get to know one another. We'll talk about what brings you to therapy, what has been happening in your life, and what you hope to gain from our work together. I'll ask questions to better understand your background, current concerns, strengths, and support system, while giving you plenty of opportunity to share what feels important to you. Together will begin identifying goals and discussing what therapy might look like moving forward. There's no expectation that you have to tell your whole story in one session – we'll work at a pace that feels comfortable and productive.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I bring warmth, compassion, humor, and many years of experience to my work with clients. One of my greatest strength is my ability to help people feel comfortable being themselves, even when we're talking about difficult or painful things. My experience in clinical, school, and child welfare settings has taught me to look beyond symptoms and understand the whole person, including their family, relationships, environment, strengths, and life experiences. I believe therapy works best when it feels collaborative and genuine, and I adapt my approach to the individual rather than expecting every client to fit the same therapeutic model.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client may be a child, teenager, young adult, or family, navigating, anxiety, depression, ADHD, school or relationship challenges, family, changes, divorce, or coparenting, or a significant life transition. I also enjoy working with individuals adjusting to pregnancy, parenthood, and during postpartum. Clients do not need to come to therapy and know exactly what they want to change or even how they feel about starting therapy, I enjoy helping people make sense of what they are experiencing, recognizing their strengths and identify realistic goals that are meaningful to them whether someone comes to therapy ready to make changes or simply needing a comfortable place to begin. I meet them where they are and work collaboratively from there.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients recognize difficult thoughts and emotions without allowing them to control their choices or define who they are. Together, we explore what is most important to the client, identify personal values, and develop practical ways to move toward those values, even when uncomfortable thoughts or feelings are present. I encourage clients to approach their experiences with greater openness, self compassion, and psychological flexibility.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we identify patterns of thinking or behavior that may be contributing to distress and explore healthier, more effective ways of responding to challenges. I use practical strategies to help clients develop coping skills, challenge unhelpful thoughts, and make changes that support their individual goals.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I use a Person-centered (Rogerian) approach to create a warm, accepting, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel comfortable being themselves. I believe clients are the experts on their own experiences, and I work collaboratively with them rather than telling them what they should think or do. Through empathy, genuine connection, and respect for each client's individual strengths and needs, I help clients explore concerns and work toward meaningful change at a pace that feels right for them.

Family Therapy

I use Family Therapy to help family members better understand one another, improve communication, and identify patterns that may be contributing to conflict or stress. I consider each person's perspective as well as the relationships and dynamics within the family as a whole. Together, we work to strengthen relationships, develop healthier ways of communicating, and problem-solving, and support the family through challenges and transitions.

Strength-Based

I use a Strength-Based approach to help clients recognize the abilities, resources, and resilience they already possess. Identify what is going well, explore how clients have successfully navigated challenges in the past, and build upon those experiences. I help clients use their strengths to develop confidence, overcome current challenges, and work toward meaningful and achievable goals.
