New to Grow
Hi, I’m Ashley Smith, and I’m so glad you’re here. Reaching out for therapy can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to navigate life’s challenges alone. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, OCD, relationship or intimacy concerns, past trauma, or simply feeling stuck, I’m here to provide a safe, supportive, and judgment-free space where healing and growth can happen. One of my favorite moments as a therapist is when something finally “clicks” for a client — that moment when they begin to understand why they think, feel, or react the way they do. Even more rewarding is watching them learn how to break free from patterns that have been holding them back and begin creating the life they want. There is nothing more fulfilling to me than seeing people discover their own strength and realize lasting change is possible.
Throughout my career, I’ve learned that healing doesn’t come from being “fixed” — it comes from feeling understood, gaining insight, and learning practical tools that create meaningful change. I strive to meet you where you are while gently challenging you toward the goals that matter most to you.
I graduated from Brenau University in 2013 with a Master’s degree in Clinical and Counseling Psychology, and I have had the privilege of working as a therapist ever since. I truly love what I do and feel honored to walk alongside people as they navigate life’s challenges and work toward meaningful change. I began my career in community mental health, working with individuals living with severe and persistent mental illness. While it was challenging work, I am incredibly grateful for the experience because it gave me a strong clinical foundation and helped me develop the confidence and flexibility to support clients through a wide variety of concerns. From there, I transitioned to the outpatient clinic at Willowbrooke, where I worked with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, substance use, grief, and life transitions. During that time, I also worked part-time at Strategies for Life Counseling, a private practice where I discovered a growing passion for helping clients navigate concerns related to sexuality, intimacy, and relationships. This experience deepened my appreciation for creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where people can openly discuss topics that often feel difficult to talk about. One area that has always been especially meaningful to me is treating Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). I am passionate about helping people break free from the cycles of fear and uncertainty that OCD can create and supporting them in reclaiming their lives. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based treatment. I believe every person deserves to feel understood, respected, and empowered, and I strive to create a space where clients feel comfortable being their authentic selves as we work together toward their goals.
For more than a decade, I have had the privilege of helping individuals work through anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, and many other concerns. While I enjoy working with a wide variety of issues, I have developed specialized interests in treating Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and providing Sex Therapy. These are deeply personal topics that often leave people feeling isolated or misunderstood, and I believe everyone deserves a place where they can talk openly without fear of judgment.
I am naturally a CBT therapist and will often challenge the negative messages my clients have been told and believe about themselves that are untrue.
