About me

Nicole has made it a goal in her therapeutic mission to de-stigmatize and bring awareness of mental health to diverse populations.  She believes that therapy is a place where one can process their thoughts and identify how one’s feelings play a role in their daily decision making.  As a therapist, Nicole aims to provide a compassionate, empathetic and safe space for individuals to gain insight and awareness in themselves.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During the therapy process, I emphasize the autonomy of the client by not giving advice but giving guidance to each client in finding their options and building confidence in their own decision making. I look forward to working with you as you a compass on your exploration of self-awareness.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Some of my greatest strengths stem from my experience and culture wile understanding the taboo subject that is mental health in the Black and Caribbean culture. This has allowed me to truly understand how therapy is not a "one size fits all" experience. As a therapist, I aim to provide a compassionate, empathetic and safe space for individuals to gain insight and awareness in themselves.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

When navigating through various stigmas of therapy and mental health, there are perceived notions at times of what the process looks like. During the therapy process, I emphasize the autonomy of the client by not giving advice but giving guidance to each client in finding their options and building confidence in their own decision making. It is important for the client to know that therapy is their own journey. I am grateful to serve the purpose of a compass, helping each client navigate through their needs and feelings. Homework is something I assign towards the end of sessions, not as punishment, but as a tool to assist client in continuing to practice their self-work outside of session as well.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy allows an opportunity to understand how our thoughts impact our feelings and our actions. Nicole utilizes an integrative approach to meet the individual needs of each client, which is accomplished through the utilization of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), gestalt theory, person-centered theories and additional approaches as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). Her training in evidence-based models including Functional Family Therapy (FFT), allows mental health concerns to be addressed with children and families as a unit.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

Trauma-Focused CBT

Pursuing my training as a Clinical Certified Trauma Professional (CCTP) has been one of the most eye-opening experiences so far in my experience with containing education. It has shown me various perspectives and understandings that are necessary to dissecting each individual’s mental health, let alone dissecting the effects of trauma in ones life. One of the trainings and techniques addressed in this training included but not limited too: Internal Family Systems, which has been a process that has broken down and made sense of understanding our internal dialogue and reasoning behind our decision making in addition to helping us understand what triggers cause certain versions of ourselves to respond.
