As your new PMHNP-BC, I can tell you that I have an extensive knowledge and background after being in nursing for a total of 23 years working with different ages, groups, and background that I have all that it takes to care for you uniquely. I don't know what you have done in the past that didn't work for you ? Our goal is that we will all tie it together. I am concerned that you deserve better. You need strength. You need a human to communicate with, who will listen diligently and share with you when you are winning.
I am so glad that you made the decision to see me as your provider or to look through my site. As your appointment approaches, it is understandable that you can be nervous. You may be unsure of what to expect, or what could happen in this appointment. All those thoughts are understandable, and I am glad that this post will address some of those things you have in mind before meeting with me. But, before we do that, let me say, well done! It’s not always easy to make the decision to see a PMHNP and I am truly commending you for taking the first, and the hardest step in addressing your mental health needs.
We would come up with a plan to move you forward, most likely it wouldn’t be the final plan which is normal. - We would discuss options for treatment, including psychotropic medications, lifestyle changes and even therapy. It is very likely on our first appointment you may not leave with a prescription but will be satisfied. - We will discuss other medical issues and how it affects your current needs. Most likely you may have had it addressed by a different provider or referred to a different specialist. However, if need arises that we may have to refer you to a different specialist that is appropriate we will not hesitate to do that. - We will talk about your diagnoses. - We will discuss how treatment will change as time progresses and how we will manage those changes in the future.
My biggest strength is taking care of depressed patients, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and mood disorders, I will be focusing more on your diagnosis, scientific foundation giving me the opportunity to explain to you what happens in the human brain and how it affects you physically and mentally. Psychotherapy might not be my greatest strength but will utilize it whenever it is needed.
