Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session together will include a biopsychosocial-spiritual assessment where we will start by getting to know one another to ensure I am the right fit for your needs. You will have the space to share your unique experiences, so I can better understand what brought you to therapy and what you hope to achieve. I’ll explain the structure of our sessions, how confidentiality works, and how we can collaborate on your goals. We may talk about your current challenges, past experiences, and any concerns you might have. I want to ensure you feel supported and comfortable throughout the process, and if you have any questions or hesitations, I’m here to address them. Our first session is about getting to know each other and laying the groundwork for future work. My treatment methods

Trauma Informed Care

As a therapist, I am trained in and use the Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM) to guide you through the process of trauma healing in a compassionate and effective way. Trauma can leave deep emotional scars, often creating feelings of overwhelm, fear, and disconnection. CRM is designed to help you safely process and release the impact of these past experiences, allowing you to regain a sense of control, safety, and peace in your life. The beauty of CRM lies in its ability to work with your innate resources, helping you tap into inner strengths and resilience that may have been hidden by trauma. Together, we will gently explore the memories and emotions tied to your trauma, but with an emphasis on healing rather than re-traumatizing. The model provides tools and techniques to help you regulate your emotions, manage distressing symptoms, and shift the negative patterns that have been shaped by your experiences. Through CRM, we’ll work to establish a strong sense of safety within our therapeutic relationship, allowing you to gradually release the emotional burden of past trauma. Over time, you’ll begin to feel more grounded, more empowered, and more connected to yourself and others. CRM helps you reconnect with your sense of self-worth, build emotional resilience, and reclaim the parts of you that trauma may have overshadowed. In our work together, you’ll be guided in a way that respects your pace and your journey. You’ll feel supported, seen, and understood as we focus on creating lasting healing and transformation. The goal is not only to heal the wounds of the past but to help you move forward in life with a renewed sense of hope, confidence, and peace.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

As a therapist, I use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to help you navigate life's challenges with greater emotional balance and resilience. DBT combines mindfulness, acceptance, and change strategies to empower you to manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and develop healthier coping skills. Together, we’ll work on building practical tools that help you stay grounded in the present, make thoughtful decisions, and create lasting positive changes in your life. Whether you're struggling with emotional dysregulation, self-destructive behaviors, or interpersonal issues, DBT offers a structured yet compassionate approach to fostering healing and growth.

Trauma-Focused CBT

As a therapist, I use both CBT and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) to help you process and heal from traumatic experiences in a safe and supportive environment. This evidence-based approach combines cognitive behavioral techniques with trauma-sensitive principles to address the emotional and psychological impact of trauma. Together, we’ll work on understanding how trauma has affected your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, while developing practical skills to cope with distress, reduce negative thinking patterns, and rebuild a sense of safety and control in your life. TF-CBT offers a compassionate, structured pathway toward healing, helping you regain your strength and resilience.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful, evidence-based therapy that helps the brain heal from distressing or overwhelming experiences. When something traumatic or deeply stressful happens, the nervous system can get “stuck,” leaving you feeling triggered, anxious, shut down, or constantly on edge—even long after the event has passed. EMDR works by gently activating the brain’s natural healing process so these experiences can be reprocessed and stored in a way that no longer feels overwhelming. Rather than focusing on telling your story over and over, EMDR helps you access and resolve the underlying memories, emotions, beliefs, and body sensations that continue to affect you in the present. Many clients notice a reduction in emotional intensity, fewer triggers, and a greater sense of relief, clarity, and self-trust as therapy progresses. EMDR can be especially helpful for trauma, PTSD, complex trauma, anxiety, panic, grief, and negative beliefs such as “I’m not safe,” “I’m not enough,” or “Something is wrong with me.” Sessions move at your pace and are grounded in safety, choice, and collaboration. You remain fully present and in control throughout the process. At its core, EMDR isn’t about reliving the past—it’s about freeing yourself from it. This work supports lasting change, allowing you to feel more connected, resilient, and at ease in your body and your life. I encourage clients to take an active role in their therapeutic journey, researching EMDR on their own in addition to asking questions and sharing any concerns.
