Julio Crespo
Hello, and welcome. My name is Julio Crespo, PMHNP-BC. I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner providing compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care to adolescents and adults. I have 4 years of experience as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and more than 20 years of direct patient care experience, beginning with my medical education and clinical training in Cuba. This diverse background has given me a strong foundation in both physical and mental health, allowing me to care for each patient using a holistic, patient-centered approach. I specialize in the evaluation and treatment of conditions such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, trauma-related disorders, insomnia, and other mental health concerns. My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where patients feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their treatment decisions. I believe in combining the latest evidence-based treatments with compassionate listening and individualized care. Together, we will develop a treatment plan that aligns with your goals, promotes emotional well-being, and supports lasting improvement. I am fluent in both English and Spanish and am committed to providing culturally sensitive care to a diverse patient population.
First session
During our first session, my priority is getting to know you and understanding what brings you to treatment. We will discuss your current concerns, symptoms, personal and medical history, previous mental health treatment, medications, lifestyle, and the goals you hope to achieve. This initial appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation designed to help us develop an accurate diagnosis and an individualized treatment plan. If medication is appropriate, we will discuss the potential benefits, risks, side effects, and alternative treatment options so you can make an informed decision. We will also explore non-medication approaches, including lifestyle changes, coping strategies, and, when appropriate, psychotherapy recommendations. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and nonjudgmental. I want you to feel comfortable asking questions and actively participating in your care. By the end of the session, you can expect to have a clear understanding of your diagnosis, treatment recommendations, and the next steps in your mental health journey.
Strengths
I bring a compassionate, patient-centered, and holistic approach to every session. My goal is not only to reduce symptoms but also to understand the whole person—their life experiences, physical health, relationships, and personal goals. I believe that effective mental health care begins with listening carefully, building trust, and creating a safe, respectful environment where patients feel heard and understood. With more than 20 years of experience in direct patient care and 4 years specializing in psychiatry as a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I combine strong clinical expertise with evidence-based treatment. I work collaboratively with my patients to develop individualized treatment plans that may include medication management, education, lifestyle modifications, and psychotherapy when appropriate. As a bilingual provider fluent in English and Spanish, I am committed to providing culturally sensitive care to individuals from diverse backgrounds. I strive to empower my patients with knowledge, involve them in every treatment decision, and help them achieve meaningful, lasting improvements in their mental health and overall quality of life.
Ideal clients
I work with adults (ages 18–64) and older adults (65+) who are seeking compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care to improve their mental health and overall well-being. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, trauma-related concerns, insomnia, or other mental health challenges, I provide a supportive and collaborative environment tailored to your unique needs. My ideal clients are motivated to better understand their symptoms, actively participate in their treatment, and work toward meaningful, lasting change. I believe in partnering with my patients to develop personalized treatment plans that may include medication management, education, and therapeutic interventions. Together, we focus on building resilience, improving daily functioning, and enhancing overall quality of life.
Treatment methods
Psychoeducation
I believe that understanding your mental health is an essential part of recovery. Through psychoeducation, I help clients learn about their diagnosis, symptoms, treatment options, medications, coping strategies, and lifestyle factors that can affect emotional well-being. My goal is to empower you with knowledge so you can make informed decisions, actively participate in your treatment, recognize early warning signs, and develop the skills needed to successfully manage your mental health over time
