My name is Andrew Maihos I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker practicing in Massachusetts, Vermont, and New Hampshire. I have been working in human services since 2011 and have been practicing as a counselor since 2016. I have worked in a wide variety of settings including schools, prisons, substance abuse treatment facilities, and mental health centers. I have experience working with all age groups and a wide variety of mental health/substance use disorders. I would describe myself as non-judgmental, easy going, and empathetic. I greatly value accountability, candor, and self-reflection in the treatment process.
It will typically be a blend of getting to know each other, me providing some psychoeducation, and beginning an exploration into a person's world view and their path to therapy.
Showing up everyday ready to listen is my biggest strength. Self awareness is crucial to being an effective therapist and practicing self-care consistently is what helps us to progress, grow, and achieve within our careers and our personal lives. I live the values, skills, and behaviors that I talk with my clients about and I believe in these strategies and approaches because I have seen them work.
Clients that are largely stable (not in need of crisis support) and willingly seeking therapy because they want to change something about themselves or their lives. I most enjoy working with clients looking for new ways to manage anxiety, ADHD, or big changes in life (career, relationships, self image) through mindfulness skills as well as psychoeducation and coaching.
Life can feel overwhelming at times, especially when anxiety, stress, or ADHD make it hard to manage daily challenges or maintain fulfilling relationships. As a licensed clinical social worker (LICSW) with experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based approaches, I’m here to help you navigate those struggles and find practical, sustainable solutions.
