Maureen Obiofuma is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and graduated with distinction from Nell Hodgson School of Nursing Emory University. Before pursuing her passion in psychiatric mental health, she had over 11 years of patient care experience as a Registered Nurse, including caring for the postpartum and mental health population. She earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from Augusta University and graduated top of her class (summa cum laude). She is also a Sigma Theta Tau and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies member.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
The first meeting will last 45-60 minutes. We will review your history, present symptoms, and treatment goals. This assessment is very detailed, so it is necessary to complete your new patient forms before your first appointment.

As a DNP advanced practice nurse, she has the highest nursing expertise and can translate evidence-based research into clinical practice to improve healthcare delivery and patient outcomes. Given her diverse nursing background and psychiatric mental health practitioner training, she has developed relevant competencies and skills. She collaborates with other healthcare providers to deliver individualized, evidence-based mental health treatment, medication management, and supportive therapy consistent with her care philosophy. She consistently demonstrates active listening skills, effective communication, and empathy to deliver compassionate and excellent clinical experiences.
