PMHNP, 9 years of experience
I empower women by example, helping them become their most self-aware, authentic selves. I help them to work on creating a safe and secure life with concerns related to anxiety, depression, and/or self-care, mood swings and interpersonal relationships. I focus on helping clients develop assertive communication & boundaries with themselves and those around them that can help improve their quality of life. I have been in nursing for 35 years. I have been a psychiatric nurse practitioner for 9 years. I am perinatal mental health certified to care for prenatal and post-natal pregnancy cares, in women's health. I also care for veterans and the geriatric population to help with depression, PTSD, anger, bipolar disorders and other severe mental illness. I see patients for one hour initially for evaluation and then for half hour visits for medication management. I assess for effect of meds, side effects, risks as well as education about improving lifestyle and collaboration in cares. I promote better health in a bio psychosocial approach to health as recognizing that the whole person needs care, not just the mind, for improved general health. I love this type of work and enjoy meeting new people in all aspects of their life. I look forward to meeting people from all aspects of the tree of life. I DO NOT PRESCRIBE CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES SUCH AS ADDERALL, VYVANSE, RITALIN, CLONAZEPAM, ETC. I SEE PATIENTS 18 YEARS AND OLDER THROUGH THE LIFE SPAN.
We will do a clinical intake, ordering labs, ruling out physical causes for mood changes, education and review of past trauma history, as well as past medication trials and assessment of what has worked or not and how this has impacted the patient's treatment and health. Education is provided related to ways to improve relaxation, recognize thought distortions, treatment modalities and recommendations of therapy as well as education materials such as books and podcasts, apps to help with mood and self-care. We will create a plan together to manage your mental health and stability and work as partners to help with mood and life challenges.
I am confident in my ability to care for a diverse population, giving compassionate care to all cultures, regardless of way of life. I am also confident in my ability to recognize trauma and how this can impact a person's treatment as well as future. I am resilient and use many factors when considering education, treatment and prescribing effective medications. My goal is to give the appropriate medications that can benefit and promote better health, enhance quality of life, relationships, marriage, and life stressors.
I prescribe medications for patients with peri-natal mental health changes, depression, anxiety, past trauma, and borderline personality disorder. I am here to help support and promote growth as well as encourage and assist with life transition, and promote resiliency. I have 35 years' experience in nursing with caring for dementia care, oncology, medical, depression, anxiety, dissociative identity disorder, borderline personality disorders, Major depressive disorder, ADHD, PTSD, panic attacks, agoraphobia and care of individuals with trauma, and post-partum and prenatal depression/psychosis. I educate on health care changes/chronic health problems with care of the individual. I educate about diabetes, thyroid disease, hypertension, and other medical problems. I assist with management of chronic illness, recognizing somatic concerns and educate on promoting better health, which can also complicate your mental health, in many ways.
I review how and why a person feels the way they do and how this impacts their life. We work on recognizing patterns of self defeating behaviors, self cares, and ways to promote improved health through improved decision making, better control of impulsive behaviors and therefore affecting and promoting changed behaviors and thoughts. I have worked with patients during grieving process, death, suicidal ideations. I educate on ways to recognize impulse control difficulties and how to redirect oneself when feeling anxious, out of control or impulsive.
When someone struggles with quieting their minds, we find ways to improve cognition, practice breathing techniques to promote relaxation and calm anxiety, recognizing our self defeating behaviors and what other choices/decisions can impact their quality of life. Learning ways to recognize thoughts and spiraling helps to decrease the Anxiety and improve resiliency.
We review ways to improve relaxation techniques using mindfulness, redirection and relaxation techniques, breathing techniques and journaling.

She listened to everything I had to talk about. She understood me and my thought process. She made me feel accepted and worth treatment. Thanks!
