I am a licensed Independent Social Worker with over a decade of experience working with adults who experience anxiety, depression, and Trauma. My experience includes working with various populations, such as veterans, adults with disabilities, substance use and recovery, as well as women's issues. I also have a passion for working in the field of gerontology. I have a strong focus on holistic healing, nature, and how we can utilize various treatment modalities for a more balanced and healthier version of self. It can be overwhelming and scary navigating life at times; we can walk through that together.

First session

Meeting with someone new, as well as seeking support, can be scary and even exhausting sometimes; I recognize that. In the first session, I will get to learn about you, as you see fit. You will be able to ask any questions related to therapy or what that may look like. We will discuss what your goals are for therapy and how we can work together to make those a reality for you!

Strengths

I create a warm and non-judgmental space where you have ability to feel heard and understood. My style is rooted in empathy, listening, empowering and is solution focused. I believe there are many ways for someone to reach their goals, and I use a person-centered approach to help you explore what that looks like for you and we do that together. It can be scary exploring therapy, so our first session will give us an opportunity to get to know each other. Together we will explore your goals and reasons for seeking therapy. The first appointment is an opportunity to discuss and plan and prioritize your goals of therapy in a safe and supportive environment. I look forward to exploring with you

Ideal clients

I specialize in trauma issues and recovery of the mind and body- I have a strong focus on understanding the changes in the body based on the weight of the world, and how that can feel so heavy and impossible to navigate at times. Sometimes we need a little support or help to recognize our own power. This may look or feel like anxiety, depression, sensory issues, sleep challenges, difficulty with relationships, or just plain burnout. I look forward to working with you to understand your journey and see what your path for growth and motivation will look like!

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral explores the linkage between our thoughts, ideas, and behavior. Understanding how and why we do things can make change easier while using healthy coping strategies. A person can identify new skills to use to challenge old unwanted behaviors and old thought patterns.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing is driven by you, the client. Through listening, empathy, a safe place, and support, motivational interviewing is a tool to allow you to see your inner abilities to discuss motivation to change This can be helpful for those who may or may not want to change, but want to talk about what could look like for them.

Attachment-based

Attachment Theory connects the link between our earliest years and our identity today. What makes us work, how we live, think, and breathe. Early bonding, or lack of early bonding with primary caregivers, can often change our whole makeup over time. Our thought patterns and the way we live, anxiety, depression, and our current emotional thought patterns. Challenging these versions of ourselves through compassion, empathy, and understanding can be healing, liberating, and empowering.

Compassion Focused

Compassion-focused anything is my vibe, and we all need more compassion! Sometimes things are heavy. Sometimes we were taught early on in life that our needs did not matter; often times that shame gets carried throughout life and throughout our other relationships and can often interfere negatively in those relationships or how we feel. IT is possible to reframe and hold that beautiful space and compassion for self that you deserve. Together we look at that core of that shame to better understand it and how it can be challenged.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

My background includes work with various cultures. I pride myself on the ability to look further in order to better support someone. We are shaped by our culture; that can look like your gender, race, ethnicity, criminal background, where you grew up, how you grew up, religion, poverty, and all life experiences. I recognize my experiences are not THE experiences when helping someone. I have spent much of my life having a strong desire to truly understand others from their perspective, as we all deserve to be seen and understood.
