LMSW-C, 20 years of experience
Hello and welcome! I'm glad you're taking this step to seek out support for yourself. A little about me: I have over 20 years of experience working in the mental health field and am committed to supporting my clients as they work to make meaningful change. I have experience working with clients of all ages, from young children to older adults. My areas of specialty include anxiety, grief, supporting clients through periods of transition such as middle-age and retirement, as well as assisting professionals who are struggling with feelings of exhaustion and burn-out. I also work with clients who are dealing with serious health issues. I tend to use an eclectic approach in my practice, drawing primarily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I also augment these traditional modalities with the use of somatic therapies, such as yoga and mindfulness practices, to achieve a more holistic approach to wellness.
Our first session will focus on obtaining background information, talking about your current concerns, and identifying your expectations for therapy. I'm most interested in ensuring that I have a good understanding of your desired outcomes and what improvements you are hoping to gain from therapy. This will help us both know if our future therapy sessions are of benefit to you.
My strength as a therapist lies in my ability to establish a trusting, empathetic relationship while listening non-judgmentally to your experiences and concerns.
If you're dealing with a major life transition, struggling to identify a purpose in your work, or dealing with a life-altering health diagnosis, I would be honored to support you through the process of therapy. I enjoy working with clients who are open to reflection, appreciate the benefits of humor in every day life, and who are interested in personal growth as they move toward a greater sense of self-fulfillment.
I have over 20 years of experience working with clients on a variety of concerns ranging from grief and anxiety to navigating major life transitions. I've found that in many cases, the use of Solution-Focused Therapy is an efficient and effective way to address specific, situational areas of difficulty.
For individuals who are struggling to manage symptoms of anxiety or a mood disorder, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is the modality that I feel offers the most effective results. I've worked with clients using CBT for over 15 years. CBT helps us learn to recognize the interactions between our thoughts, feelings and behaviors and requires a strong commitment and partnership between the therapist and client. I strive to support clients as they do the hard work of changing patterns of thought in an effort to improve their mental well being.
