New to Grow
I specialize in drug and alcohol counseling and am extremely passionate about supporting adults who are experiencing challenges that include depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and problematic use of substances. I typically work with clients and their families who are struggling with addiction and the challenges they face. However, I adjust my treatment approach to fit each individual client and their needs.
It is my goal during the first session to offer clients a safe and welcoming environment that will serve to establish the foundation for a positive and supportive path of growth.
My approach to providing therapy above all else is to treat each individual with the dignity and respect that they deserve. Some of the most common theoretical approaches that I use in my work are Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Person-Centered Therapy, and Trauma-Informed Therapy.
My ideal client is simply anyone who is willing to engage in the therapeutic process and work towards personal growth regardless of where they are starting. It is a mindset that something in their life is not working and the individual wanting to make some type of change. My ideal client is interested in viewing therapy as a partnership, working together to establish goals and evaluate individual progress.
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a type of therapy that is based on the concept that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. Meaning, when a person develops negative thinking patterns, the thoughts that are involved can have an influence on emotions and behaviors in ways that end up reinforcing problems. My approach to CBT is assisting people identify automatic negative thoughts, challenge these thoughts and develop healthy behavioral changes.
