LMFT, 6 years of experience
I experienced various traumatic events throughout my childhood and early adulthood, and those experiences motivated me to break the generational cycle. I attempted to seek treatment to address the impact of those experiences, and in my search, I found that mental health care was severely limited, providers were undereducated on mental health, and people in need of appropriate care were grossly underserved. I was outraged on behalf of all who had come before me and all those who would seek help in the future, and I used that as motivation to be the change I wanted to see. I had always spent my life saying I wanted to make a difference in the lives of others, and after my experience, I found the opportunity to use my empathy and genuine desire to help others by becoming an LMFT/LPCC. I continue to use my determination and motivation to help others in a way that I know can bring genuine change and create hope. I have experience treating children, adolescents, adults, and couples. In treatment, I utilize my dual licensure background to look at individual, relational, and developmental issues and their impact on functioning. My focus areas include, but are not limited to, anxiety, trauma and resilience, depression, LGBTQIA+, life transitions, spirituality, interpersonal relationships/relational conflict, women's issues, dual diagnosis, ADHD, parenting, and self-esteem. I have an eclectic approach to therapy because I utilize interventions and skills from many theoretical orientations, including Client-Centered, Narrative, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused, Strength-Based, Holistic, and Interpersonal
In our first session together, we have an opportunity to introduce ourselves and review the information you shared prior to our appointment. I will ask follow-up questions and obtain additional information about your history and then we will move into your current needs, what you hope to gain from therapy, and how I can support you in working towards those goals. We will also discuss and schedule recurring therapy appointments based on your desired frequency.

I work to create a safe and comfortable space so you can be yourself and establish mutual respect and trust. I believe that is how we collaboratively achieve growth, change, and progress towards your goals. I am very personal, attentive, accommodating, direct, supportive, and reflective. I work to validate, empower, and challenge you to achieve your goals.
I love working with individuals who have a willingness to communicate, learn, and try new things. I feel I work best with those who do not seek a specific treatment modality/approach and are open-minded to need-based interventions from multiple therapeutic modalities/approaches. My clients tend to have had poor experiences with previous providers or are having their first therapy experience.

Sara is nothing short of wonderful! She creates a very positive atmosphere and provides the space for me to speak at my own pace. She is very thoughtful and patient in her approach, and provides thoughtful and meaningful feedback and discussion.

Sarah helped me overcome enormous amount of stuggles I had as an adult living with adhd, she was willing to help me on small troubles I had in between our sessions and her support and teaching extended sessions because I was able to implement tools and strategies to cope with tough times on my own, by learning these beneficial and healthy habits (maybe not from first try, but I did🙃) and implementing them in my life, this was a lot of work from both of us but I think I'm at way better place in my life than I was before therapy
