(he/him)
I've experienced a number of roles in my seven+ decades of life that I believe has prepared me for working with darn near anything a prospective client can bring to our session. I've lived the majority of my life in southern California with the exception of when I moved to the mid-west while earning my undergraduate degree in Social Work/Psychology. Since there was very little $ to be made as an entry level Social Worker, I took off into the world of business, where I had positions that ranged from a Shipping Clerk to a Regional Sales Manager. I have an adult son from my first marriage. After that marriage broke up, I met my second & current wife now of 33+ years. She's been an LCSW for the last 40+ years who saw in me skill sets of a prospective therapist. I earned my license as an LMFT at the age 49. Since then, we've partnered in a Private Practice in the Pomona Valley, east of downtown Los Angeles about 30 miles.
We will spend our first couple of sessions going into an in-depth discussion about "What brings you to talk to someone like me, at this time in your life?", and then to gather as much of your information & historical story as possible.
I believe my many years in business and sales positions, prior to becoming a licensed therapist, had prepared me to create a safe & supportive atmosphere of rapport. We all have a story to tell, I would like to have the opportunity to hear yours.
My ideal client is someone who is willing to take an honest look at themselves, are ready to do the challenging work of introspection and be willing to face their fears.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I've been using this theoretical orientation since I've been an Intern. I'm a firm believer that our thoughts and our beliefs about ourselves affects our behavior and emotions.
