I've been providing psychotherapy and behavioral health care for 40 years. I also teach Clinical Social Work at the University of Southern California, and work contracts providing supervision and training to other therapists. I've worked with a wide range of patients, with a wide range of problems, and center the work that I do on building a strong, collaborative working relationship with each person.
In our first session, we'll spend time getting to know each other. I'll get some starting information about who you are, and what brings you to therapy, and then collaborate with you to decide on what changes you're most wanting me to help you with.
My strengths include my extensive experience, my belief in everyone's ability to make changes, and my ability to connect with each person as an individual.
My experience is that everyone is capable of making changes, and that everyone has strengths and skills to build from. I work with people to not only help them resolve the problems they're facing, but to also help them acquire and build skills that will enable them to continue doing so once therapy is concluded.
I draw much of my work from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, along with strategies from several other interventions, adjusting to the individual needs of my patients.
