I've been providing psychotherapy and behavioral health care for 40 years. I also teach Clinical Social Work at the University of Southern California, and work contracts providing supervision and training to other therapists. I've worked with a wide range of patients, with a wide range of problems, and center the work that I do on building a strong, collaborative working relationship with each person. This helps me focus on individualizing each person's therapy to make the work relevant and effective.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we'll spend time getting to know each other. I'll get some starting information about who you are, and what brings you to therapy, and then collaborate with you to decide on what changes you're most wanting me to help you with. I'll encourage you to keep letting me know when what we do is helpful, as well as when it isn't, so that I can keep adjusting what I do to center around what you find to be effective in making the changes you've identified.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My strengths include my extensive experience, my belief in everyone's ability to make changes, and my ability to connect with each person as an individual. I've worked for many years on developing patience, respect, and understanding for each person's unique experiences and needs.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My experience is that everyone is capable of making changes, and that everyone has strengths and skills to build from. I work with people to not only help them resolve the problems they're facing, but to also help them acquire and build skills that will enable them to continue doing so once therapy is concluded.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I draw much of my work from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, along with strategies from several other interventions, adjusting to the individual needs of my patients. I find that this approach gives each person a wide range of tools to use in making needed changes, in a way that is effective and lasting.

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

Many of the people who come to me ask for help in resolving and coming to terms with traumatic experiences they've been through. Cognitive Processing Therapy is a strong, effective, and reliable framework for helping people understand how their experiences have changed the way they think about themselves, and about the world. This helps facilitate each person's ability to then change how they act and respond in ways that are safer, constructive, and practical.
