Charlie Counselman

LCSW, 5 years of experience

Hi, I’m Charlie Counselman, a therapist dedicated to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with compassion and practical support. I specialize in working with clients dealing with anxiety, addiction, and depression, using evidence-based approaches like CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and 12-step facilitation. I also have extensive experience treating men's issues, agoraphobia, and trauma. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive space where you can build resilience, find clarity, and move toward lasting growth.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, I’ll take time to get to know you, your story, and what brought you to therapy. We’ll talk about your goals, what’s working in your life, and where you feel stuck. My goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel comfortable being yourself, while also starting to outline a direction for our work together.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My approach is grounded in helping you recognize patterns that no longer serve you and replace them with healthier ways of thinking and living. What makes my work different is that I focus on both immediate coping skills and long-term growth, so you feel progress quickly while also building lasting change.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I’m best positioned to serve clients who feel weighed down by anxiety, cycles of addiction, or the impact of past trauma. Many of my clients are growth-oriented but feel stuck in patterns they can’t seem to break on their own. If you’re ready to gain insight, build healthier coping skills, and move toward lasting change, I’m here to walk that path with you.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients notice patterns in their thinking and behavior that contribute to stress or difficulty. By working together to challenge these patterns and practice new skills, clients gain greater control, resilience, and confidence in facing life’s challenges.
