Hi! I'm Lisa and I'm a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) practicing in Northern California. I have a BA in Psychology and a MA in Counseling Psychology both from Humboldt State University. I have been working the field of mental health for over 25 years and have been licensed for 16 years. I work with individual adults and couples who are feeling stuck on the hamster wheel of repeating patterns that don't work who are looking for alternatives. I have a very straightforward approach and provide a space where you will be seen and heard, so your authentic self can shine. My goal is to meet you where you are and join you in exploring patterns in your life that aren't working for you and creating new ways of being so that you can live the life you want and deserve.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

My goal is to understand who you are and how you see the world. Therefore, in our first session, we will briefly talk about the "business" side of things, including paperwork, fees, confidentiality, etc. Once that is out of the way, the focus will be on you. I will open to floor to you to help me understand you and what you hope to get out of therapy. Based on what you share I will let you know how I can help and we will go from there to develop a plan forward.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

For over twenty years I have worked with adults, children and families in a variety of mental health settings. This rich and diverse experience allows me to easily meet you where you are and help you develop doable steps forward. As a former child abuse investigator for Children's Protective Services I have worked with countless clients in crisis; who have experienced trauma, grief and loss. Utilizing an empathetic, authentic and solution focused approach, I can help you identify and change patterns that aren't working well for you and together we can explore ways you can approach things differently which will lead to lasting change.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

Have you been struggling to do things differently, but always seem to find yourself back in the place you started? This can lead to feelings of hopelessness, but the good news is, you haven't given up and you are in the right place to find the help you need. You don't have to do it alone! Whether you want to focus on issues with your partner, your kids, substance use or healing from past trauma, let's work together to identify and change patterns that aren't working well for you and develop a path forward.

My treatment methods

Attachment-based

As a Marriage & Family Therapist I specialize in relationships and I have found that most people seek therapy for help with their relationships. Using an attachment focused approach, we will look at your past and current relationships to identify patterns that aren't working. Then we can explore ways you can do things differently which will create positive and lasting change.
