Hi, I’m Marixa. I hold a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy as well as a Master of Science in Educational Counseling. I have experience supporting individuals who are navigating challenges such as low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and feeling “stuck” or disconnected. I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches tailored to each client’s unique needs. One method I often integrate is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which, when combined with talk therapy, has helped many of my clients reduce the intensity of their symptoms and move closer to their goals. I have also completed the Brain Health Professional Certification from Amen University and am part of the Amen University alumni network of certified professionals. This training informs my work with a more holistic, brain-based understanding of mental health and wellness. I believe that healing begins when we allow ourselves to truly feel and process what’s beneath the surface. Taking that first step can feel overwhelming, but it’s often the most powerful move toward becoming more aligned with who you are and how you want to feel.
In our first session, clients can expect a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental space where we’ll begin getting to know one another. I’ll ask some questions to better understand your current concerns, your background, and what brings you to therapy. We’ll explore what’s been feeling heavy, where you may be feeling stuck, and what goals you’d like to work toward. I also take time to explain the therapy process and answer any questions you might have, including how we might incorporate tools like EMDR if it feels like a good fit. Most importantly, the first session is about creating safety and comfort so you can begin your healing journey at your own pace.
My strengths as a therapist included optimism, empathy, good listening skills, good rapport building, which have supported a strong therapeutic alliance.
I work best with adults who are navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, trauma, relationship difficulties, and a sense of feeling stuck or disconnected from themselves. Many of my clients are seeking a deeper understanding of their emotional experiences and are ready to process painful past events that may still be impacting their present. I also support individuals who are working through patterns of people-pleasing, boundary struggles, and inner criticism. Whether you're facing a current life transition or working to heal from long-standing emotional wounds, I provide a supportive space to explore, grow, and reconnect with your authentic self.
I am trained in EMDR and use it to treat anxiety and depression by helping clients reprocess painful or traumatic memories that may underlie current symptoms. Through EMDR, clients are able to reduce emotional reactivity, improve mood stability, and build healthier coping patterns.
I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and use it as a core approach in treating anxiety, depression, and emotional regulation issues. In my practice, I help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, develop healthier beliefs, and build practical coping skills.
I use an eclectic approach in my practice, drawing from evidence-based modalities like CBT, EMDR, mindfulness, and solution-focused therapy to meet each client’s unique needs. This flexibility allows me to tailor treatment by combining strategies that address both current symptoms and underlying issues. Whether targeting anxiety, depression, trauma, or emotional regulation, I integrate tools that promote insight, build coping skills, and support long-term growth.
