About me

I’m a licensed mental health counselor (License #MH25984) committed to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with compassion, cultural understanding, and evidence-based care. Originally from South Africa, my path has taken me across continents—from Europe to the U.S., where I served as a medic in the Army. These diverse life experiences inform my work and deepen my dedication to healing. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues. My approach is client-centered and collaborative, rooted in the belief that therapy should feel safe, supportive, and tailored to your unique needs. In our work together, I integrate cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and person-centered techniques to help you build insight, develop effective coping skills, and create meaningful change. Seeking support takes courage. Whether you're facing stress, life transitions, or struggles with self-esteem, I’m here to walk alongside you on your journey toward growth and healing. Let’s begin—reach out when you’re ready.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and begin building a safe, supportive space. I’ll invite you to share what brings you to therapy, what goals you may have, and any concerns you’d like to focus on. We’ll review your history, talk through how therapy works, and I’ll answer any questions you may have about the process. You can expect a gentle, conversational pace—there’s no pressure to share more than you feel comfortable with. Together, we’ll begin creating a plan tailored to your needs, whether that involves addressing depression, anxiety, unresolved trauma, or learning new coping strategies. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, supported, and with a clearer sense of direction for your healing journey.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My therapeutic style is holistic, meaning I consider the whole person—mind, body, and emotions—in the healing process. I integrate evidence-based methods such as EMDR, DBT, ACT, and CBT with mindfulness practices to help clients develop greater self-awareness, resilience, and emotional balance. This approach allows clients not only to process past trauma or current struggles, but also to build practical coping skills they can use in daily life. By blending traditional therapeutic techniques with mindfulness and a compassionate, client-centered focus, I create a space that supports both healing and long-term personal growth.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work with young adults through seniors who may be struggling with depression, anxiety, or unresolved trauma, as well as those simply seeking guidance and healthier coping skills to navigate life’s challenges. My ideal clients are individuals who are ready to explore their inner world, build resilience, and take steps toward greater balance, healing, and personal growth.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I have years of experience integrating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) into my counseling practice, supporting clients in developing greater psychological flexibility. My approach emphasizes helping individuals clarify personal values, increase present-moment awareness, and build healthier relationships with their thoughts and emotions. I have worked with clients facing anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions, using ACT’s evidence-based strategies to foster resilience and meaningful change. With a compassionate and collaborative style, I guide clients in learning practical skills for acceptance, mindfulness, and committed action aligned with what truly matters to them.

Couples Counseling

I help partners improve communication, rebuild trust, and navigate conflict with compassion and clarity. Drawing on evidence-based approaches such as the Gottman Method, I support couples in strengthening emotional connection, resolving recurring challenges, and fostering healthier, more fulfilling relationships.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

With hands-on experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I help clients identify and reframe unhelpful thought patterns, develop practical coping strategies, and build resilience. I have worked with individuals facing anxiety, depression, trauma, and stress-related challenges, using evidence-based CBT techniques tailored to each client’s unique needs. My approach emphasizes collaboration, skill-building, and empowering clients to create lasting, positive change in their daily lives.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I am a compassionate and skilled counselor with specialized certification in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), supporting clients in building emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness. Experienced in guiding individuals through complex challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and borderline personality disorder, with a focus on fostering resilience and lasting change. Dedicated to creating a supportive, non-judgmental environment that empowers clients to achieve balance, self-acceptance, and personal growth.

EMDR

I have specialized training as a Shapiro-trained EMDR therapist. With a strong foundation in trauma-informed care, I integrate the evidence-based EMDR approach to support clients in processing and healing from distressing experiences. Guided by Dr. Francine Shapiro’s original EMDR model, I help clients reduce the emotional impact of traumatic memories, foster resilience, and build healthier coping strategies. My compassionate and client-centered approach creates a safe, structured space for individuals to work through challenges and achieve meaningful emotional growth.
