Tonya Brooks
Welcome, I'm Tonya Brooks. I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who works with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, and life’s challenges. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and nonjudgmental, creating space for you to explore your experiences, gain new perspectives, and discover possibilities for meaningful change.
I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor supporting adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, and life’s challenges.
My goal is to support you in gaining a deeper understanding of yourself and moving toward a life that reflects what matters most to you.
First session
Your first session is a place for us to begin exploring what has brought you to therapy. You will have space to share your experiences, concerns, and hopes for the future at your own pace, without judgment or pressure to have all the answers. Together, we will begin identifying what matters most to you, explore perspectives that may help you better understand your circumstances, and consider possible steps toward meaningful change. My goal is for you to leave feeling heard, supported, and more hopeful about the possibilities ahead.
Strengths
I bring empathy, insight, and a genuine commitment to understanding each person's unique experiences. My approach encourages self-reflection, explores different perspectives, and helps clients recognize patterns that may be affecting their well-being and relationships. I value creating a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients can build on their strengths, develop practical tools, and discover possibilities for meaningful change that align with their personal goals and values.
Ideal clients
My ideal clients are adults ready to gain insight, personal awareness, explore new perspectives, and create meaningful changes in their lives. They may be navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use, relationship challenges, or life transitions that have left them feeling stuck or uncertain about their direction. Together, we explore the patterns and experiences that shape their lives, identify their strengths, and consider new possibilities for moving forward. You don't need to have all the answers before beginning therapy—just a willingness to explore what matters to you and what you want your life to become.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients explore the connections between their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and experiences. Together, we identify patterns that may be contributing to distress, examine different perspectives, and develop healthier ways of responding to life's challenges. My approach emphasizes self-awareness, practical coping strategies, and recognizing opportunities for change. By connecting insight with action, I help clients work toward greater emotional well-being, healthier relationships, and goals that align with their values and what matters most to them.
