New clients continue care with this provider

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in New Jersey who has a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology and Human Services, with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have been working with children and families for 25 years, mostly in the in-home setting. I also have a strong crisis background having worked in an Emergency Room for 11 years where I assessed and provided therapy to the suicidal/homicidal patients, as well as the chronically and persistently mentally ill. As a part of both settings, I have a very clear understanding of addiction and the dual role it can often play.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I believe the first session is an information gathering session, but you will also get to see that I have a great sense of humor and can create a safe place for you to be your authentic self.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am very compassionate and non-judgmental but also see the humor in things and am very authentic to myself and my own self-care, which shines through in how work we will do.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I am eager to treat and assist any individual/couple/family seeking therapy for their own self-discovery and betterment.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Suicide Prevention (CBT-SP)

I was a mental health screener in the Emergency Department and community for 11 years and am highly trained at assessing for suicidality as well as safety planning. I like to build upon resiliency and protective factors to ensure safety and instill hope.

Family Therapy

I have an educational background in marriage and family therapy and not only function from those theories with families/couples, but with individuals to promote healing. I have worked with families in their homes for my entire career.

Compassion Focused

By encouraging and teaching self-compassion and self-care, I have found that individuals can make themselves a priority in a world that can feel overwhelming.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Staying in the here and now through grounding techniques and meditative moments, we can propel ourselves out a mindset of dwelling on the past or constant worry about the future. Encouraging individuals to remain in a flow state of mind and believing that we are right where we are supposed to be in our lives can be very freeing.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Who knows your story best and understands you best, but you. I am a tour guide along your journey to point out the things you may have missed along the way, while also helping you come to your own conclusions about what makes the most sense for you in your healing process.
