Hi, I’m Gia Short, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and founder of MindSculpt Psychiatry. I provide compassionate, evidence-based virtual psychiatric care for adults in Illinois and Arizona. I specialize in psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and brief supportive therapy for ADHD, anxiety, depression, and binge eating disorder, with a special interest in weight concerns related to psychiatric medications. My goal is to provide personalized care that helps you feel heard, supported, and confident in your treatment.

First session

Your first visit is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We'll discuss your current concerns, symptoms, medical and mental health history, previous diagnoses, and any medications you've tried in the past. Together, we'll identify your treatment goals and determine whether medication may be beneficial. If medication is recommended, we'll review your options, including the benefits, potential side effects, and what to expect moving forward. My goal is for you to leave your appointment with a clear understanding of your treatment plan and confidence in the next steps.

Strengths

I bring over 15 years of nursing experience and a compassionate, patient-centered approach to psychiatric care. I believe the best outcomes come from working together, so I take the time to listen, answer your questions, and develop a treatment plan that fits your individual needs. My focus is on thoughtful medication management combined with brief supportive therapy, providing practical guidance and evidence-based care in a welcoming, judgment-free environment where you feel comfortable discussing your concerns.

Ideal clients

I work best with adults who are ready to take an active role in their mental health and are motivated to make meaningful, lasting changes. My ideal clients may be experiencing ADHD, anxiety, depression, binge eating disorder, or weight concerns related to psychiatric medications. My clients are looking for thoughtful, personalized care and want to feel involved in decisions about their treatment. Together, we work to reduce symptoms, improve daily functioning, and help you feel more confident, balanced, and in control of your mental health and overall well-being.

Treatment methods

Psychoeducation

As part of your medication management visits, I help you better understand your diagnosis, explain how your medications work, discuss expected benefits and possible side effects, monitor your symptoms and progress, answer your questions, and provide guidance to help you get the most from your treatment plan. My goal is to ensure you feel informed, supported, and actively involved in decisions about your care.
