Hello! I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, serving the state of Minnesota. I graduated in 2019 with my Master's degree in Counseling from Crown College and have been practicing therapy for the past five years. I love helping clients understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I help individuals create emotional regulation, practice mindfulness, learn communication and boundary skills, and improve their overall functioning.
During our first session, I strive to develop a relationship with each client. This is typically done by gathering the client's background information, reviewing symptoms they are experiencing, and answering any questions they may have about my therapeutic process.
I am a kind and empathetic person. I am very knowledgeable about mental health and helping others develop strategies to manage emotions. I strive to help clients better understand the symptoms they experience and provide education about any diagnosis. I believe the therapeutic process is done with client and therapist, meaning. Specifically, I work with individuals who are looking to better manage their symptoms and decrease feelings of stress. I hope to help clients improve interpersonal relationships, decrease burnout, and improve emotional regulation.
Within Acceptance & Commitment therapy, I help clients identify their values in different areas of life (relationships, leisure, career, spirituality). When you can identify your values and live within your value system you can decrease mental health symptoms.
I believe in working with clients within their worldviews. As a Christian, I often see how faith and mental health can intersect. As appropriate and desired by clients, I will utilize scripture to motivate and encourage clients on their life journey.
As a therapist, I strongly believe in the connection between one's thoughts, feelings, and actions. When we have unhelpful thoughts, it will impact our mood and cause us to react negatively. I help clients identify their unhelpful thoughts, and realistically reframe these thoughts. Also, I help clients identify their triggers to their moods and implement coping strategies to demonstrate emotional regulation.
Cognitive Processing Therapy is an evidence-based trauma treatment. Within this framework, I help the client identify their traumatic experience, identify unhelpful thinking patterns, and learn to question their automatic thoughts.
With Dialectical Behavior Therapy, I help clients know understand, and explore dialectical thinking. Also, I am trained to help clients learn these specific skills to improve their overall well-being.
