Hello! I am Kristin Allen, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Tallahassee, Florida. I work to help clients to build self-acceptance, a greater sense of meaning based on their personal values, and effective thinking and behavior patterns to promote their well-being. Research has taught us that certain thinking and behavior skills are associated with positive mental health outcomes, and I strive to help clients to incorporate these practices. If you are struggling, please feel free to reach out to me. I would be honored to work with you through this difficult time.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, I try to spend time really understanding your concerns and goals for therapy. This will help me to create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

One of my clients provided the following review, and I am sharing this with her permission: "Super kind and helpful. Truly cares about her clients and becomes invested in your wellbeing. I can tell she does this out of purpose and passion. This isn’t just a job to her." -Client K. after 7 months of therapy

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I love working with adults of all ages who are struggling with self-confidence, anxiety, and depression. Often, clients are eager to improve, but don't yet have the tools needed to make this goal a reality.

My treatment methods

Gottman method

I use the Gottman method of couples therapy because it is backed by over 40 years of research as an effective way to help couples who are struggling with conflict and eager to rebuild a quality, fulfilling relationship.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT therapy helps us to adapt to all of the ups and downs in life by helping us to respond more flexibly, to be more present, and to live according to our values. It is based on a large body of research, and I've seen it help clients with a variety of life's concerns.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT helps us to learn to identify our unhelpful thinking patterns and to replace them with more adaptive ways of thinking. It is supported by research and is very helpful for depression and anxiety disorders.
