I help teens and adults cope with stress, express themselves honestly, and explore personal meaning and purpose. I have experience working with teens and adults in private practice, using my skills as a therapist to help people find relief, direction, motivation, and meaning. I use relational psychodynamic methods, with insights from CBT and others. My focus is on a person's feelings, which are the gateway to the unconscious, although thoughts and thinking are also important. By exploring feelings we can attain greater self understanding, and this can help us to find solutions and coping skills to deal with our problems.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

My approach as a therapist is to provide warm and attentive listening, unconditional positive regard, gentle honesty and encouragement, as I join with you in the project of telling and understanding your story, and feeling your best. I have an MDiv and am open to your religious experience. Services available through telehealth and in-person.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I am an excellent listener, and respond with warm and empathy to client concerns and issues. My psychodynamic approach enables me to take your feelings seriously and give them the priority they deserve in our sessions. I believe that thoughts are important, but feelings occur at a more basic level of brain functioning (in the limbic system, our mamalian brain) and are the best avenue to uncover the unconscious, and bring the unconscious to consciousness. That is my primary goal as a psychodynamic clinician, because increasing awareness of unconscious content allows us to gain greater understanding of ourselves, our motivations, our values and priorities. I want to help explore your feelings, attachments, and person story. I think these things are fascinating, and talking about them makes me love my job.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Are you feeling down and depressed? Is anxiety getting in the way of your life?Therapy can help you to cope with heightened anxiety, depression, loneliness, and lack of purpose. I offer in person and virtual therapy to best meet your needs. Therapy provides a safe place to ask the questions that scare us, to find connection and healing, to feel good and be authentic, and take charge of our lives. I support clients' efforts to gain insight into the sources of their challenges and pain, find connection, make positive changes in relationships, identify strengths and resources, cope with personal history, and take charge of their life.
