I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in California. I am a former first responder and military veteran. I received my master's degree in social work from Loma Linda University. I have varied experience working with clients from the most severe to mild symptoms. I bring practical life experiences to the therapeutic environment. I strive to view the client as an individual, and tailor therapy to match their individual needs.
The first session is to start getting to know each other, and for me to learn more about your concerns and strengths. Your needs and goals are discussed, and we start to focus the future sessions.
My life experiences help me related to people and to help them identify their strengths and how to work towards resolving their concerns.
I have found I am able to make therapeutic connections with clients from their 20s to their 80s. I work very well with client's who have faced challenges which they initially find to be difficult to manage, but with some support are able to effectively deal with difficulties now and in the future.
CBT is an effective treatment which is low intensity and has low invasiveness. Limiting triggering distress during the session.
Strength based therapy focuses on what is right about a person, rather than what is wrong with the person. This change of focus can create new insights.
