New to Grow
I am not a young therapist. I have learned a great deal through my life experiences which enable me to empathize with the issues that are bothering my clients. This is my second career. I went back to school later in life and received my degree in mental health counseling. My greatest satisfaction comes from my helping my clients make their lives better.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
During our first session we will both get to know each other so that we can decide if it is a good fit. I will ask you what you would like to accomplish with our sessions so we can evaluate how to proceed. I will inform you that what we discuss remains between us with the possible exception if I feel you are a danger to yourself or someone else. You will learn that making your life better requires work and I would hope that you will commit yourself to doing that work.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I tell it the way it is. I am very straightforward with my clients and expect them to be truthful and straightforward with me. I enjoy injecting a little humor into my sessions to make everyone more comfortable.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use cognitive behavioral therapy to help my clients change the way they think about situations which cause them anxiety and depression. I try to adapt my methods to the needs of my client.
