Doctorate in Psychiatric Nursing - University of Florida Bachelor's in Nursing - University of North Florida Bachelor's in Psychology and Sociology - Florida State University Do you feel your quality of life is not where you would like it to be? Are you struggling to maintain meaningful relationships, participate in work, find joy in the things you used to, or be present in the moment? I am a nurse practitioner in psychiatric-mental health focusing on the medication management of mental disorders and mental illness. These terms are often used interchangeably. Mental disorders can impact anyone for a variety of reasons. This includes symptoms of grief, anxiety, depression, social anxiety, tearfulness, poor energy, over-sleeping, insomnia, changes in appetite or weight, poor concentration, impulsivity, anger and panic. Mental illness may include symptoms of hallucinations, paranoia, obsession, mania, and disruptive inappropriate behavior. I enjoy providing a combination of medication and brief counseling to guide you toward relief of symptoms. I will also recommend herbal remedies, nutritional supplements, and lifestyle changes which could impact your success. I provide client-centered-care which means decision making is shared between you and me
INITIAL INTERVIEW: We will begin with an initial interview and a discussion of your goals. I will collect information relevant to creating your plan-of-care. If at the initial interview you are not a candidate for virtual care with myself I will make you aware at that time. FOLLOW-UPS: I will continue to learn more about you with each visit. We will discuss adjustments in medication for symptom relief. I will provide education on your diagnosis, condition, alternative treatment options and what to expect moving forward. I will offer brief counseling and a safe space to share your feelings
Everyone is deserving of respect and high quality care. I primarily utilize psychiatric medication. I will also incorporate counseling. Culturally competent care is a very important aspect of my planning. This is a desire to understand your cross-cultural needs and incorporate these considerations in your treatment. I embrace all regions, faiths, spiritualities, belief systems in sessions. I provide support to all sexual preferences and identities including asexuality. I provide the same level of care regardless of income/insurance, race, background, legal history, substance use, educational background or any other such variable.
I work with adults 18+ and older adults. I specialize in symptoms of behavioral disturbances, trauma, depression, social anxiety, obsessive/compulsive disorders, grief, anxiety, mood swings, hallucinations, paranoia, and other psychoses. I also work closely with clients who experience mania. However, if you are experiencing significant instability I may recommend in-person care. I have experience working with co-occurring substance use disorders and alcohol use disorders. If you experience a substance or alcohol use disorder we will discuss during the initial interview if I recommend in-person care. I do not treat attention-deficit disorder however, I will address concentration and focus concerns. I do not treat children or adolescents
