New to Grow
I take a warm, down-to-earth approach to therapy and work from a trauma-informed lens. I believe our reactions make sense, even when they feel overwhelming or confusing. Together, we slow things down and begin to understand what’s underneath your experiences. I bring in an understanding of how the brain and nervous system respond to stress, helping your reactions feel more understandable and connected to what you’ve been through. I see your reactions as signals worth paying attention to. Rather than only trying to manage them, we take time to understand why they’re showing up and what they might be connected to. From there, we can begin to shift how you respond, building tools that actually support you in a way that feels more grounded and effective.
Our first session is really just about getting to know you. We’ll talk about what’s been going on and what led you to reach out. There’s nothing you need to prepare, and no pressure to explain everything right away. As we talk, I’ll share a bit about how I approach therapy and the lens I work from, so you have a sense of what our work together can look like. We may begin to notice patterns in your experiences, helping things start to make more sense over time. We’ll also explore what you’re hoping to get out of therapy and begin to identify goals that feel meaningful to you, moving toward them in a way that feels realistic and aligned with your needs. My goal is for you to leave feeling comfortable, supported, and understood.
One of my greatest strengths is creating a space where you can feel truly seen and understood without needing to filter or hide parts of yourself. I help connect the dots between your experiences, emotions, and patterns, often offering perspectives that help your reactions feel more understandable and human rather than something being wrong with you. I bring in an understanding of how the brain and nervous system respond to stress, helping your reactions make sense as natural, protective responses rather than personal failures. Rather than focusing only on coping tools, I help you understand what’s underneath your patterns so you can experience more lasting change, while still having support when you need it.
I work best with clients who feel overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck in patterns that don’t fully make sense. You may notice strong emotional reactions, shutting down, or feeling caught in the same cycles, even when you’re trying to do things differently. Many of the people I work with have experienced trauma, early relational wounds, or ongoing invalidation, and are trying to better understand why they respond the way they do. This can show up as feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or reactive in ways that are hard to control. Many are looking to make sense of their experiences and begin responding to stress in ways that feel more supportive and effective.
Trauma-Focused CBT
I use elements of trauma-focused CBT to help you understand how past experiences may still be impacting your thoughts, emotions, and reactions today. Together, we look at patterns that feel stuck and work on building tools to help you feel more grounded and in control—at a pace that feels safe for you.
Somatic
I also use somatic (body-based) approaches, which means we pay attention to how stress and emotions show up in your body. This can help you recognize when you’re feeling overwhelmed and learn ways to feel more calm, present, and steady.
Psychoeducation
I believe it’s important to understand what’s going on inside of you, not just talk about it. I often share simple, helpful information about things like anxiety, stress, and how your body responds, so you can make sense of your experiences and feel less stuck or confused.
Relational
Above all, I focus on building a genuine, supportive connection with you. Therapy should feel like a space where you can be yourself without judgment, and where we can explore what’s going on in your life together in a way that feels safe and meaningful.
