New to Grow
My name is Anessia Nutter. I received my Master's degree in Education, Counseling, and Human Development from Lindsay Wilson University. I have experience in substance abuse, Trauma, Anxiety, and Depression. I was raised in West End, Louisville, KY, where I graduated from high school. I believe in listening to understand and no judgment. My recent experience is in Trauma-Informed Care, specializing in Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
In the initial session, I will provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you can feel comfortable being your authentic self. I will explain the therapeutic process, discuss how therapy can support your growth and healing, and review confidentiality and its limits. I will gather relevant information to guide ongoing treatment while completing a Biopsychosocial assessment. I will also provide psychoeducation about mental health and collaborate with you to establish meaningful treatment goals that align with your needs and priorities.
I am a compassionate and personable therapist with a strong understanding of trauma, depression, and anxiety. I incorporate a variety of evidence-based treatment modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, to provide individualized support based on each client’s needs. I also utilize psychoeducation to help clients develop a deeper understanding of their triggers, symptoms, and emotional experiences. My approach is client-centered, grounded in the belief that clients are the experts of their own lives and that therapy is a collaborative process.
My ideal client is self-aware and has a clear understanding of their therapy goals. They are willing and ready to engage in the therapeutic process and complete assigned tasks. I value clients who ask questions and actively collaborate in their care to ensure their needs are being met. I also appreciate when clients openly communicate what they hope to gain from therapy and how I can support them in making meaningful changes in their lives.
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a structured, evidence-based approach to psychotherapy that focuses on the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. At times, cognitive distortions can develop and contribute to emotional distress. In therapy, I support clients in identifying, challenging, reframing, and restructuring these thought patterns.
Cognitive Processing (CPT)
Cognitive Processing Therapy is an evidence-based, trauma-focused form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy designed to help individuals recover from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and trauma-related symptoms. I use this approach to support clients in processing trauma and examining how their thoughts and beliefs have been impacted and continue to influence them in the present.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy is an evidence-based form of cognitive-behavioral therapy to help individuals who experience intense emotions and difficulties with emotion regulation, often seen in conditions like borderline personality disorder, chronic suicidality, depression, PTSD, and anxiety. I use this modality to assist clients in emotional regulation, mindfulness, and distress tolerance.
