Bethany Fowler
I’m a Licensed Independent Social Worker in Ohio, dedicated to helping children, teens, and young adults navigate life’s challenges with compassion and care. I specialize in supporting kids and adolescents (ages 8+) who have experienced trauma, as well as individuals of all ages who struggle with managing emotions or feel overwhelmed by life’s demands. While these areas are my focus, I welcome working with people from a wide range of backgrounds and needs.
Strengths
I draw on evidence-based techniques to help you build coping skills, regulate emotions, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, and reclaim your story in a way that feels empowering and personal while utilizing relational strengths, rather than being a “blank slate” in responses to your experiences. I find that one of the most important parts of progress in therapy is the therapeutic relationship between the provider and the client, so I strive for positive rapport and follow the client’s lead while gently challenging unhelpful patterns to help clients meet their goals.
Ideal clients
While I enjoy working with a wide variety of presenting concerns, I mainly work with adolescents and young adults on anxiety, self-esteem, relational issues, and trauma. I have worked with clients who identify as highly sensitive people, clients who bring pop-culture references into sessions to support explanations, and clients who use humor to cope. I additionally enjoy clients who are motivated to work towards goals, though I take sessions at the client’s pace to assist any hesitancy or resistance.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
We will use CBT to help identify patterns in your thoughts, where you might be getting “stuck” in your thinking, and ways to challenge unhelpful thoughts while we build coping skills.
