Hi, I'm Kristin Howard, an LA native who loves traveling, music, yoga, photography, dancing, and hiking. I began my journey towards becoming a therapist 16 years ago. I've had previous experience working for a suicide hotline, doing my traineeship at a high school, working with children, adolescents, and adults in community mental health, working with emerging adult population at private universities, and for a group private practice. I've had the opportunity to work with individuals dealing with relationship issues, life transition, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, and identity/cultural concerns. What I love most about being a therapist is having the privilege to connect with some of the most incredible human beings and provide them a safe space to process any life challenges they're dealing with.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
During this session we'll have brief introductions, I'll gather information from you in order to get a better sense of your presenting concerns, and we'll collaborate to create a treatment plan catered towards your needs that we can begin working on in follow up sessions together.
The treatment methods and tools I utilize
I work from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Person-Centered framework.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My biggest strength is working with clients who suffer from anxiety by helping them gain more control of their thoughts that have been getting in the way of their lives and causing them distress. Additionally, I work well with clients who are going through a major life transition, looking to create better balance in their lives and need guidance with setting boundaries in relationships.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
In addition to my private practice, I work within a university setting, which has given me extensive experience supporting individuals in emerging adulthood. I am especially passionate about working with clients navigating major life transitions, including grief, career changes, and shifts in relationships. My approach is grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused techniques, allowing me to help clients reframe unhelpful thought patterns while rediscovering joy and meaning in their lives. I also enjoy exploring relationship dynamics in depth, supporting clients in strengthening communication skills and establishing healthy, effective boundaries.

Reading Kristin's bio helped me sense a connection between what I want out of therapy and what she was offering. After our first session, I am optimistic that I will make growth with Kristin.
