Kennie

(she/her)4 years of experience

I am a certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and a Family Nurse Practitioner. I began my journey towards providing mental health services in 2018 because my heart has always been anchored in helping others especially those going through mental health challenges to actualize their worth so they can live life to the fullest. An essential part of my treatment philosophy is to establish a trusting relationship with my clients in an environment where they feel safe and accepted. I have been working in healthcare for over 14 years with experience in various roles and patient populations. I completed my Bachelor's degree in Nursing at Lakeview College of Nursing in 2008 and later received a Master of Science in Nursing at Walden University and a post-masters at the University of Texas, Rio Grande Valley. I am a board Family Nurse Practitioner and a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I have worked extensively with those struggling with anxiety, depression, bipolar, trauma, substance use, emotional dysregulation, and behavioral issues. I really try to work with my clients in their medication treatment and believe in a holistic approach. I believe working on ourselves as a whole, with medications as a support is the only way long lasting healing and change.

First session

Clients can expect to take away a collaborative approach to their medication treatment with a better understanding of themselves, their medication treatment, and how their environment affects them as well. I aim to treat each client as a whole and help create an understanding of how their past, relationships, environment, medications, and perceptions affect them and their treatment.

Strengths

I am highly creative in ideas, problem-solving abilities, and communication. My goal is to work on providing the optimal amount of care and healing with the least amount of medications possible. I act as a neutral party who can listen and understand without judgment, which aids in building a connection, and deeper understanding, and helps me grow in my own understanding and development of medication prescribing for our mental health.
