Hello, I warmly welcome you to your healing journey. I am Doris Schraner, a practicing Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Arizona and Nevada. My multifaceted, holistic approach to treatment has successfully helped my clients to find greater peace in their lives for 20 years. By collaboratively creating an action plan rooted in your goals and values, my aim is to not only address the emotional causes of your issue, but to target, and ultimately heal, the physical and spiritual aspects of the issue as well through systematically challenging and implementing positive behavioral change.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I applaud you for taking this next step in seeking therapy. I understand how difficult this is. Whether this is your first time looking for a mental health professional or if you are looking for another counselor, I pride myself on creating a safe, warm and non-judgmental space for you – please do not hesitate to approach me with any questions you may have! You might be wondering what the process of getting started with me looks like… During our first session, we will collaboratively address the issues you want to work on and define small, initial steps that will help you ultimately reach your end goal. Additionally, I will inform you about my treatment techniques and their effectiveness. In the following session, we will dive in feet first – propelling you towards achieving your mental health goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

On your healing journey, I want to help you address the issues you are facing, understand the underlying root causes, and identify re-appearing patterns of those problems. I will support you in the processing of stressful life events through various treatment techniques which I have been practicing with clients for many years. But most importantly, my wish is to equip you with lifelong coping skills to overcome stressful situations, as well as how to be flexible and persistent in solving future problems. My approach to healing is, namely, rooted in Brainspotting – a new "brain-body based" relational therapy that helps you to access, process, and overcome your issues. Additionally, I incorporate EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing/Flash technique), Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Positive Psychology, Comprehensive Energy Psychology, and Hypnotherapy in your treatment plan.

My treatment methods

Brainspotting

"Where you look affects how you feel" Brainspotting is a new "brain-body based" relational therapy to help to access, process, and overcome trauma and other disturbances by focusing on specific points in the visual field. It works on the theory that feelings from trauma can become stuck in the body, leading to physical and mental aliments. Though Brainspotting therapy is primarily focused on discovering and alleviating trauma, it can help many different types of issues, especially since trauma's effects are so far-reaching. Some examples are: anxiety, depression, attachment issues, PTSD, and chronic pain.

Somatic

Somatic Therapy focuses primarily on the body rather than the mind. Somatic Internal Family Systems and Attachment-Based Somatic Therapy incorporate movement, activation of senses, touch (havening technique), and breathwork with the traditional tools of the Internal Family Systems (IFS) framework. Within the IFS framework, clients will learn to identity, understand, and reconcile their "inner worlds", or subpersonalities, leading to improved emotional health and behavior. Clinical applications include treatment of depression, anxiety, attachment disorders, and chronic illness.

Integrative

Using an integrative and eclectic approach is crucial to treat a client's unique issue. Tailoring the therapy to the client's needs achieves also the most significant effects. That means I utilize Brainspotting as the main treatment technique and incorporate Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, IFS (partwork), Energy Psychology (EFT), positive Psychology and Hypnotherapy to help with a wide range of needs.

Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is a type of mind-body medicine. Hypnosis is a deep state relaxation with verbal cues, repetition and imagery. Your mind taps into the part of the brain where your thoughts, beliefs, perceptions, sensations, emotions, memory and behaviors originate. In this state you are fully in control (waking awareness) and open to guided suggestions to make changes and improve your health. It is used for anxiety disorders, depression, pain management, cancer, smoking cessation, and a variety of other applications.

Psychoeducation

Incorporating Neuropsychotherapy usually begins in the intake session to understand diagnosis, symptoms, or the method of treatment used. It also helps to understand trauma and how it affects the body, the brain and the nervous system. Furthermore, it includes teaching of coping skills, and exercises to make it easier to manage symptoms.
