Rejithkumar Kumaran
I’m Rejith Kumaran, APRN, MSN, PMHNP-BC, a Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with more than 12 years of healthcare experience. Through Healing Haven Centers, I provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care for children, adolescents, and adults, with a strong clinical focus on ADHD evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment. I work with patients experiencing difficulty with attention, focus, hyperactivity, impulsivity, executive functioning, procrastination, organization, forgetfulness, time management, emotional regulation, school performance, work performance, and other concerns that may be related to ADHD. My approach is comprehensive and individualized. I take time to understand each patient’s symptoms, childhood and adult history, family history, medical background, sleep, mood, anxiety, daily functioning, and treatment goals before developing a plan of care. In addition to ADHD, I evaluate and treat anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, OCD, panic disorder, insomnia, and other mental health conditions. Services may include comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, ADHD assessments, medication management, supportive psychotherapy, screening tools, diagnostic clarification, and ongoing follow-up care.
I help teens, adults and older adults understand and manage ADHD, attention difficulties, executive dysfunction, anxiety, and mood concerns through comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and personalized medication management. My goal is to provide clear answers, practical treatment options, and compassionate, evidence-based care.
My goal is to create a welcoming, respectful, and judgment-free environment where patients feel heard, understood, and involved in treatment decisions. I believe mental health care should be collaborative, practical, and focused on improving daily functioning, confidence, relationships, emotional well-being, and long-term quality of life. I currently provide psychiatric services through Healing Haven Centers for patients in Orlando, Central Florida, and throughout Florida via telepsychiatry, with in-person appointments also available when appropriate. Whether someone is seeking an ADHD evaluation, medication management, or support for anxiety, depression, or another psychiatric concern, I aim to provide thoughtful, personalized care tailored to each patient’s individual needs. I especially enjoy helping individuals who have struggled for years with unexplained concentration problems or executive dysfunction understand their symptoms and available options. Clear education, careful assessment, shared decision-making, and realistic treatment goals are central to the care I provide.
First session
During your first session, my goal is for you to feel heard, respected, and more confident about the next steps in your mental health care. We will take time to discuss what brought you in, the symptoms you are experiencing, how long they have been present, and how they are affecting your daily life, relationships, school, work, sleep, and overall functioning. If you are seeking an ADHD evaluation, we will explore concerns such as attention, focus, impulsivity, hyperactivity, procrastination, organization, forgetfulness, time management, executive functioning, emotional regulation, and childhood symptoms. I also assess for anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma-related symptoms, sleep problems, and other conditions that may overlap with or resemble ADHD. Your first appointment may include a review of your psychiatric history, medical history, current and previous medications, family history, substance use, relevant screening tools, and treatment goals. When appropriate, additional ADHD assessment tools or follow-up evaluation may be recommended before a diagnosis is confirmed. I believe patients should understand what we are evaluating and why. I will explain my clinical impressions in clear language, answer your questions, and discuss appropriate treatment options. These may include medication management, psychotherapy recommendations, lifestyle strategies, additional testing, or coordination with other healthcare professionals when needed. My goal is not to rush you into a diagnosis or treatment decision. Instead, I want you to leave your first session with a better understanding of your symptoms, a clear plan for what comes next, and the reassurance that your concerns have been taken seriously. Every patient is different, so the evaluation and treatment plan are individualized to your needs, history, preferences, and personal goals.
Strengths
One of my greatest strengths is taking the time to understand the whole person, not just a diagnosis or a list of symptoms. I bring more than 12 years of healthcare experience to each session, along with specialized training as a Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, practical, and grounded in evidence-based psychiatric care. I have a strong clinical interest in ADHD evaluation and treatment. When someone reports difficulty with attention, focus, impulsivity, hyperactivity, procrastination, organization, forgetfulness, time management, or executive functioning, I look beyond a single symptom or screening score. I explore childhood and current symptoms, school and work performance, relationships, sleep, anxiety, mood, medical history, family history, and other conditions that may contribute to or resemble ADHD. My goal is to provide thoughtful diagnostic clarification and an individualized treatment plan. I also work with patients experiencing anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, OCD, panic symptoms, insomnia, and other mental health concerns. I believe patients deserve clear explanations about their diagnosis, treatment options, medications, expected benefits, possible side effects, and alternatives. During sessions, I listen carefully and provide space for patients to share their concerns without judgment. At the same time, I am comfortable asking direct questions, exploring patterns, and respectfully challenging thoughts or behaviors when doing so may help the patient move forward. I value shared decision-making and want every patient to feel actively involved in their care. Whether someone is seeking an ADHD assessment, psychiatric evaluation, medication management, or ongoing mental health treatment, my goal is to create a supportive relationship that promotes better functioning, greater confidence, emotional stability, and meaningful long-term improvement.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is a teenager, young adult, adult, or middle-aged individual who is looking for thoughtful, personalized psychiatric care and wants to better understand what is affecting their daily life. I especially enjoy working with individuals who are wondering whether ADHD may be contributing to difficulties with attention, focus, impulsivity, hyperactivity, procrastination, organization, forgetfulness, time management, executive functioning, emotional regulation, school performance, work performance, relationships, or completing everyday responsibilities. Some clients come to me after struggling with these symptoms for years without a clear explanation. Others may have previously been diagnosed with ADHD but are looking for a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, medication management, diagnostic clarification, or a treatment plan that better fits their current needs. I also work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, panic symptoms, OCD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, insomnia, stress, mood changes, and other mental health concerns. Many clients have overlapping symptoms, so I take time to understand the full clinical picture rather than assuming that every concentration problem is caused by ADHD. My ideal client values open communication and wants to participate actively in treatment decisions. You do not need to have everything figured out before your first appointment. My role is to listen carefully, ask meaningful questions, review relevant history and symptoms, provide education, and work collaboratively with you toward diagnostic clarity and practical treatment goals. Whether your goal is improving focus, managing anxiety, stabilizing mood, sleeping better, functioning more effectively at school or work, or simply understanding yourself better, I aim to provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care tailored to your individual needs.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
**Supportive Therapy** I use supportive therapy to create a safe, respectful, and nonjudgmental space where patients can discuss their concerns, challenges, and treatment goals. During sessions, I help patients better understand patterns affecting their mood, attention, relationships, school, work, and daily functioning. For individuals with ADHD, we may discuss difficulties with focus, organization, procrastination, executive functioning, emotional regulation, and completing responsibilities. I combine active listening, encouragement, practical problem-solving, education, and collaborative goal-setting to help patients build confidence, strengthen coping skills, and make meaningful progress alongside psychiatric treatment and medication management. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) I incorporate cognitive behavioral strategies to help patients recognize how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors can influence one another. Together, we may identify unhelpful thinking patterns, develop healthier responses, and create practical strategies for managing anxiety, depression, stress, ADHD-related challenges, and everyday problems. For patients with ADHD, this may include working on procrastination, organization, time management, task completion, negative self-talk, and habits that interfere with functioning. The goal is to develop realistic skills patients can apply outside of sessions to improve emotional well-being and daily functioning. Motivational Interviewing I use motivational interviewing to help patients explore their goals, concerns, and readiness for change without judgment or pressure. Rather than telling patients what they should do, I work collaboratively to identify what matters most to them and what may be getting in the way. This can be especially helpful when patients are working on medication adherence, routines, sleep, lifestyle changes, ADHD management, or other behaviors that affect mental health. My goal is to help patients feel more confident and actively involved in decisions about their care. Psychoeducation Education is an important part of my approach. I help patients understand their symptoms, diagnosis, treatment options, medications, expected benefits, possible side effects, and alternatives in clear, practical language. For ADHD evaluations and treatment, I provide education about attention, impulsivity, executive functioning, emotional regulation, sleep, anxiety, and other conditions that can overlap with ADHD. I want patients to understand not only what we are treating, but why a particular treatment or next step is being recommended. Better understanding allows patients to participate more confidently in their mental health care.
