New to Grow
My practice is eclectic and borrows from psychodynamic, humanistic, and cognitive orientations. I believe that each person’s rich subjective experience is fundamentally unique. In my clinical work, I strive to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can feel welcome in expressing yourself fully, working at a pace that feels comfortable for you. My style is relational and interactive, and tools used in treatment vary according to the individual situation. These may include exploration and expression of thoughts and feelings, expanding skills in areas such as stress coping, communication, boundary setting, providing support in problem-solving, or some combination of these. I am non-directive in my approach, operating from a person-centered lens. I work with a range of topics including life stressors, relationship difficulties, as well as mood and anxiety disorders. "Psychoanalytic therapy requires of the therapist a degree of intelligence, a degree of professional knowledge and skill, a capacity for empathic attunement with another, a willingness to immerse ourselves in another person’s private, subjective world, an absolutely ruthless willingness to examine ourselves, and for want of a better word, humanity. Of all the qualities that go into the making of a psychotherapist, it is this last and most ineffable quality that may ultimately carry the day.” Jonathan Shedler, That was then; this is now
Our first few sessions are an opportunity for us to get to know one another. You are not tied to a contract or obliged to continue therapy if you feel it is not a good fit. Important: This is a friendly reminder for clients to sign the informed consent form prior to starting services. Clients need to agree to: a.) have therapy sessions via telehealth b.) show clinically appropriateness for service delivery via telehealth c.) confirm they are physically located in the states I am licensed to practice (Washington & Arizona). d. d.) agree to the "no-show fee" of $75 when they booked and did not attend the session within 15 minutes. If it is determined that client is not clinically appropriate for online therapy, they will be referred to higher level of care or specialty services.
Because I prefer strengths-based work, I am non-directive and use my positionality as a therapist to guide instead of direct. I prefer to use a whole-person approach to trauma, believing that complex systems such as family/intergenerational beliefs, institutions, and societal influences shape our internal world.
I enjoy working with clients who experience low self-esteem, identity issues, relational/attachment issues, perfectionism, PTSD, and race-based trauma. I work from a strengths-based and relational model, meaning that trust must be established first before we can “do the work.” I am not keen on diagnoses, but I use them instead as a guide towards how I can best serve you.
Eclectic
I combine a myriad of modalities to best suit your needs.
Multicultural
As a multiracial woman, I can relate to some of the challenges that may arise as a multicultural individual navigating the complexities that arise as a result of mixed-race and ethnicity.
