Laura Sarsony
I am a licensed mental health counselor in the states of Montana and Florida. I have experience working with adults struggling with anxiety, grief, trauma, relationship challenges, and depression. I believe counseling should be client centered, focusing on building growth and skills in the areas you are struggling. I value building a therapeutic relationship based on safety, trust, and respect. I will strive to help you however I can and look forward to working with you towards your goals together.
First session
I strive to make our first session a warm introduction in which we can explore current challenges in your life together, to determine possible future goals.
Strengths
In my sessions you can expect a balance between compassionate validation and direct challenging. I seek to challenge clients to step outside their comfort zone, safely and slowly for long-term success.
Ideal clients
I enjoy working with individuals who are managing life transitions, interpersonal conflicts, or challenges with self-esteem. I also enjoy working with clients who struggle with anxiety and have goals for managing stress. Clients who are working on personal growth and self-development within themself or career focused are rewarding to work with. Client goals around improving motivation and adherence to personal goals are satisfying to work on with clients.
Treatment methods
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
DBT is helpful for exploring coping skills related to emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal skills.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
ACT is helpful when working with self-esteem related to negative self-talk and exploration of your personal values.
Narrative
Narrative therapy can be a powerful to explore the stories we tell of lives and examine how those stories impact our lives. Stories that are determined to not serve us can be edited or changed using this model.
