Brianna Patenaude

(she/they)4 years of experience

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has spent the last four years practicing in outpatient mental health. I obtained my Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of South Florida (go Bulls!). During my time providing mental health care, I have supported clients in developing skills to manage depression, anxiety and heal from past trauma so that they can strengthen their interpersonal relationships and improve their quality of life. I am experienced in providing care for members of the LGBTQ+ community, and create a welcoming space for all to grow on their therapeutic journeys.

First session

In our first session together, I want to hear all about what brought you into therapy, your current challenges, and your future goals. Each time we meet, I will welcome you in and give you the space to express yourself openly. I value your authenticity, your safety and helping you to feel empowered to take charge of your life.

Strengths

I am compassionate, sensitive, and open-minded. I will never ask you to do something that I myself would be unwilling to do. In asking you to be authentic with me, I bring my authentic self to the therapeutic relationship.

Ideal clients

I am experienced in providing care for clients with depression, anxiety, and histories of trauma. No matter who you are or where you are at in life, I value helping you to learn new coping skills and to build hope for your future. I am experienced in providing care for members of the LGBTQ+ community, and create a warm environment that celebrates all people as they embark on their therapeutic journeys.

Treatment methods

Strength-Based

I help my clients to identify their personal strengths and the qualities that enable them to effectively reach their goals.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have taught CBT-based group therapy sessions for anger management and anxiety regulation. I teach my clients how to evaluate their thinking and check the facts, so that they can self-soothe and tolerate distress in challenging moments.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing skills enable me to meet my client where they are at, and assess what is most important to them in their life and treatment. I want to help my clients build their most authentic life, and that begins with assessing their readiness for change.
