I earned my Bachelor’s degree in counseling, health education, and addictive behaviors specializing in eating disorders in 1986. I earned my Master of Arts in counseling and psychology in 1997. I have over 25 years of mental health experience varying from a wide range of populations which include hospice, autism, employee assistance counseling, crisis intervention, sexual and physical abuse, eating disorders, as well as child welfare and foster care. I specialize in working with children, teens, families as well as couples counseling. I also work with the elderly population with a focus on quality of life as well as supportive listening and reflection on life time events. With an extensive background in mental health, I am motivated by previous client success taking a wholistic, spiritual, and non-judging reality-based approach to therapy. I believe building a strong therapeutic rapport is key to a successful outcome for clients to meet their objectives and goals in a therapeutic setting. My approach is welcoming and engaging affording me the opportunity to meet the client where you are at by setting realistic objectives and goals to overcome the barriers preventing you from experiencing and embracing a positive life. You now have the opportunity to receive these benefits of counseling telephonically. It is a flexible and not as structured form of counseling allowing you the client not to have to worry about driving to appointments, a set schedule, as well as the barrier of family members wondering if you choose to keep your counseling experience private. This also assists and may eliminate the tension and anxiety in a professional atmosphere.
