Hi, I'm glad you’re here. I’m Liz Sullivan, a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in helping high achievers relieve stress, anxiety, and find the joy in life again. When I meet them, my clients often say life feels like a grind. They are accomplished doers, always busy, but somehow feel lonely, frustrated and lost. Everything is on their to-do list (except themselves), and most days they feel stressed and overwhelmed. It's possible to let go of your stressors, feel relaxed and have the energy to do what you love. My expertise is in teaching the tools that will help you break free from what feels like an endless stream of demands with no satisfying finish line. Using research proven mind and body techniques, we'll remove what’s blocking you from experiencing the joys of life. Together, we will find better ways to live your life so you can enjoy and put your energy towards what's important to you. You'll discover a balance that feels good and learn to actually relax and have fun again.
In therapy, your only job is to come as you are. Comfy and cuddled up on the couch, or frustrated and venting in the car, your sessions are just for you. I love the work of supporting clients who want to break free from their stressors and live the life they want to live. I study the latest research so you don’t have to. My work comes from a place of both proven techniques and personal practice. My clients appreciate my open minded approach. They tell me the insights that come from sharing their pain with an unbiased supporter helps them unlock a new way of life that they didn't know was possible. We figure out what success truly means to them, and go step by step towards their joyful life. With my experience and research in the cognitive behavioral therapies, mindfulness-based stress reduction, somatic therapy, and yoga, you will gain the skills to release what’s not working and focus on what does. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in South Carolina, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida, and a certified yoga teacher. When I’m not working, you might find me in the ocean or the garden, practicing the art of slowing down, (it’s a challenge for me too!).
When we’re stressed and down, we can fall into patterns of thinking and responding which makes things feel even worse. We get stuck in old behaviors that don't support us in moving forward and living the life we want to live. As part our work together, we’ll look at how problematic thinking styles and behavior patterns are blocking you. We'll develop the tools to help you live your best life. I utilize CBT along with the related "third wave" of CBT therapies like Mindfulness based CBT, DBT and ACT. These innovative practices are focused on the process of becoming a happier, more whole person. Instead of just ‘reducing symptoms’, we will develop skills that help you navigate life's ups and downs more effectively. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or CBT is based on the idea that your thoughts, feelings and behaviors are all connected. When you can make a positive change in one area, the others benefit too.
