New to Grow
Hi! I'm Kelly Miltenberger, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I work towards recognizing your existing skills and strengths and helping you to expand those into stronger, more adaptable ones to help you achieve your goals. For over 15 years I have been working with children and adults from diverse populations and cultural backgrounds. I have a vast range of clinical experience in forensic settings, In-Patient facilities, virtual settings, and schools.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our initial session, we'll begin with a quick introduction and then move into discussing the specific challenges you're currently navigating. This will allow me to craft a personalized plan to guide our work together in future sessions.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My biggest strength is that I try my best to be genuine, authentic, and compassionate with my clients and the work that I do. I have worked in a variety of clinical settings and populations and I feel that I have been able to develop skills and knowledge of the different stages, obstacles, and milestones that many of us go through.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I work with children and adults from diverse populations and cultural backgrounds, addressing anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral problems, panic attacks, and other life challenges.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
In my sessions I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy because it helps clients identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors to better manage problems like depression, anxiety, and stress by linking thoughts, feelings, and actions
Attachment-based
This type of therapy is important in helping clients to heal past relational wounds by building secure connections, helping them to understand how early experiences with caregivers affect current behavior, and developing healthier ways to relate.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
For clients that may struggle with managing more intense emotions, I implement Dialectical Behavior Therapy to teach skills for managing these intense emotions, improving relationships, and reducing self-destructive behaviors by balancing acceptance and change.
Trauma Informed Care
Current research shows that over 70% of adults will experience at least one traumatic event in their lifetime. In my approach to therapy, I will help to shift "What's wrong with you?" to "What happened to you?", creating a safe, trusting, and empowering environment that prevents re-traumatization and promotes healing.
