Hello there, and thank you for reaching out—that’s a meaningful first step. I’m Carrie Freshour, LCSW-C, a licensed clinical social worker with more than two decades of experience supporting individuals through complex life challenges. My practice is intentionally small, serving only a handful of clients at a time, so I can offer highly personalized, trauma-informed care. To ensure I can meet your needs with my current availability, a brief phone consultation is required. If we’re not the right fit, I’m happy to provide thoughtful guidance and warm referrals. I primarily support adults and young adults navigating anxiety, burnout, relationship challenges, identity transitions, and the lingering impact of trauma—especially systemic and institutional trauma that often goes unnamed but deeply shapes how we show up in work, family, and community. My approach blends clinical expertise with real-world experience. I help clients: rebuild confidence and self-trust interrupt patterns of self-sabotage navigate conflict and communication challenges heal from environments that felt unsafe, invalidating, or toxic understand their nervous system responses and regain a sense of control I’m direct, compassionate, and unafraid of hard conversations when they lead to clarity and growth. I believe people are far more resilient than they realize, and sometimes they simply need a safe space—and the right tools—to rise again. If you’d like to explore working together, please message me with your phone number and three options for a 15-minute consultation call within the next one to two weeks. Taking this step takes courage. I’m honored to walk beside you as you move toward the life you want. Stronger together, Carrie PLEASE NOTE: 15-minute CONSULTATION CALL REQUIRED BEFORE SCHEDULING AN INTAKE. INTAKE WILL BE CANCELED before a call.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
After our consultation call, if we both feel we’re a good fit, we’ll schedule your first session. In that initial meeting, we start by building comfort and clarity—no pressure to tell your whole story at once. Most people don’t, and you won’t be expected to. We’ll talk about what brings you in right now and what feels most urgent or heavy. If something needs immediate attention, we’ll address it together so you leave with support, not overwhelm. From there, we’ll begin exploring the patterns, experiences, or environments shaping how you’re feeling today. The first few sessions are about understanding your goals, your history at your pace, and how your nervous system has been navigating stress, trauma, or toxic environments. As we move forward, we’ll gradually connect the dots, strengthen your resilience, and create a plan that feels both grounding and actionable—meeting you exactly where you are, every step of the way.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
As both a clinician and a coach, I bring a unique blend of strengths to support you on your journey. My expertise lies in seamlessly guiding you through life's challenges and their impacts, all while igniting motivation through coaching techniques. This dual approach ensures a holistic experience, merging healing with actionable goals and hopefulness. My niche, without a doubt, centers around trauma-informed practices. Whether you seek individual therapeutic services, coaching, or consulting, or need assistance with employee mental health programs, I specialize in helping you navigate the complexities of trauma and its lasting effects. It's my passion to empower you, foster resilience, and drive transformation, no matter where you are in your journey.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I prefer working with young adults aged 17 and above in a virtual setting. However, I am open to consulting with clients outside of this focus. My ideal client is ready for change—someone who feels that something isn't quite right and wants to work through it, or who has past experiences that are impacting them today and wants to move through. They are interested in understanding the roots of their pain and in finding actionable ways to become the change they want to see, shifting the felt senses, overcoming overwhelm, and doing the work. We will do the job together, guided and supported.
Trauma Informed Care
As a trauma-informed therapist, I bring a wealth of specialized training in evidence-based practices like Internal Family Systems, TI-Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Exposure Therapy, and various methods that align closely with the core values and principles of trauma-informed care. I passionately embrace a strengths and resilience-focused approach, meeting each individual client at their unique point on the path to healing.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
As a trauma-informed therapist, I utilize acceptance and commitment (ACT) modalities to aid in, fostering a compassionate understanding of your experiences while guiding you towards meaningful action and values-aligned living. ACT is a type of therapy that helps people learn how to accept the difficulties they face in life, such as painful thoughts and feelings, rather than trying to avoid or control them. It also teaches individuals to identify their values and commit to actions that are in line with those values, helping them live a more fulfilling and meaningful life. ACT emphasizes mindfulness, acceptance, and taking action based on what matters most to the individual. I find this complements other trauma modalities, such as Internal Family Systems frameworks.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
With the above I find at the core is often Internal Family Systems frameworks. With IFS, we explore the various parts of your inner self and work towards healing and integration. Together, we'll navigate your internal landscape with compassion and curiosity, fostering deeper understanding and healing.
