About me

Hi! My name is Sydney and I'm a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor based in Newport Beach, California. I work with adults to help them cope with and reduce anxiety so they can live more peaceful and fulfilling lives. I believe building rapport and connecting with clients on their individualized needs is foundational. My approach is holistic and integrates CBT, humanistic, and mindfulness modalities as well as EMDR for clients I see face to face. Something unique about me is that I am also a Registered Art Therapist (ATR) and a Surf Therapy practitioner. If I meet with you in person, you always have the option of integrating art therapy or surf therapy into our work together. I'm passionate about getting outside, engaging body and mind and developing creativity as supportive tools for mental and physical health.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together, we’ll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you’re facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I develop great rapport with my clients through an open, non-judgmental and relaxed environment. My clients express feeling comfortable and having an easy time opening up. Therapy can be heavy so I try to have a little fun while working through tough stuff. My clients report feeling supported, encouraged and like they have someone they can trust. Most of all, they make progress. While I am very compassionate, I also have a way of challenging clients to get where they want to go. They find new ways of seeing and navigating their blocks, that ultimately changes the way they think, feel and live.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I love working with the self-proclaimed people-pleasers, the stretched thin, the overwhelmed, the ones who feel stuck. Often times this is women, mothers and mothers-to-be, although this does not exclude men. My clients have often reached a point where they are finally ready to ask for help after helping everyone else in their life for so long. They are eager to make changes and ready to accept support and tools for living the lives they deserve.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is foundational in my practice as learning how thoughts, emotions and behaviors interact to create our experience of life is critical in understanding ourselves better and how change can happen by altering those patterns.

Somatic

Often things are occurring in the body that impact the mind without our awareness. I work on developing a stronger connection with the body in order to better support and understand the mind and body and their relationship to one another. This is done through guided imagery, breath work, body scans expressed through art and practicing different tools to support the body's experience.

Narrative

Humans are story-making creatures and often the stories we tell ourselves over and over get played out in our lives. I want to help clients write a new story and live that out!

Person-centered (Rogerian)

You are the expert on your life and what you want and need out of life. I'm here to support your vision of what that looks like. I'll challenge you and ask questions regarding blocks to getting where you want to go but ultimately I'm working along side you to get there.

EMDR

Reprocessing stuck, unwanted patterns can help launch us into thinking and feeling the way we want to.
