Dr. Beverly Regisford-Henry
I’m Beverly Regisford-Henry, Psy.D., M.S.Ed., LCSW, CAGCS, a licensed psychotherapist in both Florida and New York. I specialize in working with children, teens, young adults, and the families who support them. I approach therapy with the understanding that children do not heal in isolation. With over ten years of experience as a therapist and more than twenty years as an educator, I bring a unique blend of clinical expertise, educational insight, and genuine compassion to my work. Having walked school hallways, partnered closely with parents, and supported families through real-life challenges, I understand the quieter struggles young people often carry. I am deeply committed to helping them feel heard, understood, and empowered—both inside and outside the therapy room. My therapeutic approach is creative, experiential, and relational. Therapy goes beyond conversation and may include expressive techniques, guided role-play, storytelling, and developmentally appropriate activities. This approach allows children, teens, and young adults to safely explore emotions, practice new skills, and build confidence in ways that feel engaging and meaningful. Collaboration with parents and caregivers is an essential part of the process. By working together, we support growth not only in the individual child, but within the entire family system—creating lasting, positive change.
First session
In our first session, my focus is on getting to know you and creating a safe, comfortable space where you feel heard and understood. I’ll invite you (and your child, if I’m working with a young client) to share what brings you to therapy, your goals, and any concerns you may have. This is also a chance for me to learn about your strengths, background, and unique experiences so that I can begin tailoring the support to fit your needs. You can expect our time together to feel collaborative and relaxed—not rushed or overwhelming. We’ll talk about what therapy might look like moving forward, explore different approaches that could be helpful, and begin setting small, meaningful goals. By the end of the first session, my aim is for you to feel supported, encouraged, and hopeful about the journey ahead.
Strengths
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to make the therapeutic process both meaningful and engaging for young people. I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help children and teens identify unhelpful thought patterns and develop healthier ways of thinking and coping. At the same time, I integrate drama therapy, which offers a fun, creative outlet for expressing emotions and exploring real-life challenges in a safe and imaginative way. This balance of structure and creativity allows therapy to feel approachable while still being deeply effective. Another strength is my ability to partner with parents and caregivers, recognizing that healing and growth often happen within the family system. With a background as both an educator and a therapist, I understand how children learn, communicate, and thrive. Families often tell me they value my warmth, patience, and ability to blend evidence-based methods with playful, creative strategies—helping therapy feel less intimidating while still promoting meaningful, lasting results.
Ideal clients
My ideal clients are children, teens, and young adults who may be struggling with life’s ups and downs—whether that’s school stress, anxiety, depression, or challenges with self-esteem. I also have a deep passion for supporting children with autism, physical disabilities, and developmental differences, along with their families. My goal is to create a safe and encouraging environment where every child can feel seen, supported, and empowered to grow at their own pace. I work best with clients and families who are open to creativity, collaboration, and even a little fun in the therapy process. Many of the young people I serve are looking for a space where they can express themselves freely, build meaningful skills, and discover their own strengths. Together, we focus on resilience, confidence, and hope—helping children and families navigate challenges while celebrating progress every step of the way.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
My approach to CBT is collaborative and goal-focused. In sessions, we will examine what's not working in your current thought and behavior patterns and practice new ways of thinking. Between sessions, you'll have simple strategies to try in real life to help you feel more in control.
